kolbydmc's "The Donkey" Build Thread

On a lighter subject, I forgot to post some pics up from
the new Sugarhill ORP in Houston a few weeks ago.

On with the rebuild
Here is the old console

New console

-

Then it was time to replace the alternator
The alternator wasn't actually damaged in the wreck
but was making a whining noise ever since I flooded it.
It needed to go. This thing gave us a fight every step
of the way!

Then I needed to make a license plate holder for my temporary bumper
I just cut out the old holder from the plastic bezel.

Oh and a big surprise is coming in the mail!! Stay tuned.

Is it a hood? Looks like you need one...

No, it's not a hood. My problem may be the hood, but the whole right fender is pushed down a little. The hood looks the same cosmetically as before the wreck, however, it could be way different without me noticing it. I might as well order one anyway.

I ended up not selling for three very good reasons
1 - I love my truck to much, it has never let me down, I have let it down
2 - I wrecked it (all is fine now though)
3 - Well, COB sums it up very well right here - Why I built instead of selling

-
Ok with that out of the way-
Some new goodies came in!

And......

After the time clearing space for the bolt on method, the holes on the bracket don't match.. So I will just go ahead and weld it on.I also have some ARB shackles I through on there.

I still need to paint it obviously, it's rusting quick! I'm thinking of rustoleum bed lining it, then painting everything that's showing on the front of the truck now black.

Coming soon -
Re - satoshi mod

Just read through your build thread man, very nice progress! QUITE the transformation from the green to silver... Must be kinda weird dropping off the truck green and seeing it silver :D

Keep up the good work! The bumper looks great!

Then I got sick of a loose, worn out gear selector. So I bought COB's old 2x2 gear selector

Diff Lock

Now its time for DIFF LOCK! I went with the Spartan Locker, Michael833 came over and helped me out a lot.

-

Kept the brake petal held down like this so no fluid came out of the lines.

-
After install thoughts-
Well, it was a ***** to install for me anyways, fought every step of the way! Driving is pretty much the same except the general click around the corner or the loud unlock when you turn to tight. Off road I really can't give a full review of yet but so far, it does seem better.

Finally I decided to get my front bumper welded on

Now for a funny story
Leaving kwik car, I pull out behind a 4runner at a light not thinking much of it. He had his rear window down so I decided I needed mine down, when I put mine down, he stuck a fist out the window and yelled "'Merica!" So when the light turned green I pulled up next to him, turns out he has a silver t4r with a addicted offroad bumper and some tires and he yelled, "you on t4r?" I of coarse said yes. We pulled over and it turns out its loaf from here.
