Kraze's Mall Crawler build thread

Pictures from this weekend's trail runs:

More can be found in the Corral Canyon thread.

Also, Ol'Blue came through once again today, and found me an upper control arm from a junkyard 4runner, so that problem is temporarily solved. I'm thinking about getting some newer, better ones down the road though. Perhaps the ones from TheToyOutfitters: Control Arms. What does everyone think?

The new goodies look great! One favor to ask - I would love to see some output shots of your new lightbar. Hardly anyone with big lightbars posts output shot pics. Mostly all I see are pics of the truck with the lightbar on... yes we all know your lightbar is bright *cough-tacomaworld-cough* LOL but they never post actual output shots! It bugs me.

So get out in pitch black and lets see how much light that sucker throws! I can't wait to mount mine up, so I'll need some porn to suffice. :D

Well I will just say this. They are Fing bright. Setting up camp in the dark with his truck was a breeze. They are very nice and I want the same set up for myself. I don't think we took pictures but we will just for you.

We should be able to do that for you. I would have had some night output shots if I wouldn't have broken that damn rear UCA and not been able to take my 4runner on the night run we did this past weekend lol.

Ol'Blue, you want to bring the camera next time you head over this way so we can get some output shots for everyone to see?

Well I changed out my broken rear UCA last night, and while I was under there I noticed this:

Looking closer:

My rear sway bar is sitting on the e-locker housing, grinding away at it. I won't be having that!

:bigok:

Now I have no rear sway bar, and the front sway bar is unhooked. I'll just sit down and wait right here for someone to come and tell me how unsafe it is :director::lalala:

it is unsafe with that said its the first thing sawzalled out of my 2nd gen tacoma ......;) flex is soooo much better...we cut my brother out of his 97runner that i sold him :eyebrows:

Hmmm unsafe maybe when it comes down to it though a lot of it depends on how your drive. I don't have the mounts for a swaybar for the front anymore cause the mounts on the LCAs where removed by my buddy. FYI your tires are gonna wear a little weird (rounding off the outer edge).

I'll take the sway bar.

You can have the sway bar, the new end links I had for it, my expert help installing it, and some extra cash... if you give my 4runner one of your awesome detail jobs. Whattya say? :naughty:

Oh yeah, I can see how they would wear unevenly and a little weird now. This thing is tippy with no sway bars! Wasn't too bad at all with the front unhooked, but now that there's no sway bars at all, it's... fun haha. Definitely have to drive it a little different/slower, which isn't a bad thing anyway.

*Your truck looks completely different with the front windows tinted, im diggin it! :thumb3:

Did you go 5% or 20%?

definitely on my to do list..

Thanks! After seeing so many pictures of other members on here that had tinted front windows, I knew I wanted to do it. It definitely transforms the whole look. Plus, the mobile tinting guy was going to be at the house today anyway for my roommate's car, so I figured why not?

I ended up going with 20%. I was trying to get it as close to the rear window's tint as possible, and I think I picked right. 5% is just too dark. I had dark windows on my Trans Am, and it just plain sucked at night haha.

And now that the windows are tinted, I'm dead set on painting the wheels. I ordered 8 cans of Rustoleum Hammered in black, 4 in red for the "bead lock" rings, then 5 cans of VHT clear, plus some red Scotch-Brite pads for prep.
