I know, I know. It's probably been discussed but between the crappy search engine and banter of whatever, the information is difficult to find. I see a lot of people asking, but nobody answering with concrete information.

So here it is: Lets hear reviews of your struts being used with LC coils!

I appreciate the link. I read for a few hours last night and received no concrete information.

Skipping the Rancho's and Procomps, from what my research informs me is you can use the OME 600027? Billy 5100 / 5125 / 5150 and stock LC struts.

I know the OME will fit without modfiicaiton, but will the Billys? I dont' think they make 4runner specific shocks, so will the bushings be the right size? How about the LC struts?

I'm sure I can read for days to find this information, but it's also assuming everybody else has to. There are still a few pages on your linked thread I haven't read, but I will get to it today. I think this information should be included in the first post so people know their options and can easily determine what to buy and what modifications are required.

As an added tid bit, I heard the Tundra 5100 rears need new bushings. Where do you buy them?

Tokico Trekmasters PN GE4095. No modifications however the shock mount is 1/2 inch where as the stock 4runner is 1/4 inch so a little beefier.

The top mount bushings that came with it were a little tall and I had trouble fitting both on there and ended up cutting one in half which didn't seem to work that well becuase I've been having trouble with them coming lose.

I just ordered a set of 'upper shock mount bushings' for an 80 series cruiser to replace all the busings with new in attemp to resolve the issue. I ordered Whitelane Plus bushings part number W21793 from
W21793 Front Upper and Lower Shock Bushings

I have LC coils 8.25 and 8.75 wraps.

Now, my questions for you (I have trust issues). A) How does it ride? A local here has tundra 5100's and said they seem REALLY soft, or slightly bouncy. B) Why not the 5125 or sometimes recommended 5150's? (I'm assuming these have longer strokes. No idea about valving)

The above post is the first I've heard about Tokico. Thats another brand I trust more then ProComp, Monroe, etc.

They ride really nice. They are not as soft as the 5125's (I've run those too), and they are also longer than the 5125's allowing for more flex. And the 5150's are no good. Many people have problems with the stem breaking on them.

Another shock I'd stay away from is the OME 60027's. Unless you are always towing, they are way too firm.

I've heard this before. In fact I heard the whole OME set-up is pretty firm.

Few more questions if you don't mind me racking your brain.

1) Why not recommend the ultra cheap LC strut set-up? I think FZJ80 REAR struts.
2) The link you posted are designed for the 4th gen 4-runner. Do they also fit our 3rd gens without bushings or other work?

I will sometimes be pulling a single place snowmobile trailer, and a hitch mounted dirt bike carrier. Not over the top by any means. (220-350 lb hitch weight) I'd rather deal with a bit of sag and flop for those moments then deal with a harsh ride all the time.

I run land cruiser shocks and IMO are better than any bilstein in the rear. Yes they are not as soft as other billies but still to soft. LC shocks give a stock ride, they are long and handle all types of roads great. I will never run a billie in the rear after these shocks.

Yeah they will work just fine. A lot of people run those and like them. The price tag is definitely intriguing. Personally I like the bilsteins. I think they are better, and I think they are a higher quality shock.

Yep they fit the 4th & 5th gen 4runners as well as the FJ cruisers. They are a direct fit for the 3rd gens. If you run them with the OME 890's or 891's you would need to do some modifications so your springs don't fall out when you flex. But they will work great with the LC springs.

Anybody have concrete numbers for the LC shocks? I *might* go that way, or the billy's.

A guy locally wants me to sell his Billy's with 10,000km, but he's doing it to switch to LC struts because of weight issues. hum.

People are saying good things about the Tokico Trekmasters LC shocks. The best thing? They are about $100 shipped for the pair and use a larger nut on top.
