Large exhaust leak after cat...big or small problem??

Hi all,

Im working on a new to me 99 and an exhaust leak is on my to fix list, but I am fairly new to vehicle work, and want to know if you guys think this is a problem I should deal with ASAP or wait a few months. I am in the middle of installing a new koyo rad + trans cooler + magnefine filter so that is #1 for me right now.

The leak is very noticeable noise wise. I have already passed my smog check here in NV so I am not worried about that, just the performance or other problems I don't know about that could accompany this. Pics below.

my 99 had the exact same leak. i had a cat back with flowmaster installed and told them to fix it. they did an alright job on the exhaust but left the flange looking like yours. i ended up cutting the flange and welding a sleeve in between. ran it like that leaking for several months. with no problems. just got louder and louder over time. never had any o2 issue's or fault codes. i would get to it when you have time but wouldn't stress about it. passed cali smog and mine looked way worse then that.

Most old 4Runners have flanges looking like that if the exhaust hasn't been touched yet. No big deal. It just sounds like you have an exhaust system installed with zero cost to you.

Every time I had a exhaust leak near a O2 sensor fixing it got my lost MPG back.
