Larger tires from Costco

I just got a car wash and it was light out after work so I snapped a few pics. That was the best one. You can see the Canadian vent visors too.
 
Totally can see them. But what about the tint

One question though, Why did you mount the white letters on the inside.

I mean besides a personal choice, was there a reason
 
I had the same problem at local Costco locations. I wanted the larger 70s Revos, but they wouldn't do it. However, the rep did tell me if I were to unmount all 4 of my wheels/tires and brought only those to the store, they would sell me the larger size. So, if you don't mind having your 4R on blocks or jack stands during the time the wheels are missing, then go for it! I know it's a real PITA, but it's worth it if you have the time & tools to take advantage of the $ discount through Costco. BTW, I saw a tv commercial today and Bridgestone is giving $100 off a set of 4 tires at a participating retailer (I don't know if Costco will do that since it's already wholesale/discounted; I've only seen up to $60 off).
 
Drew - The tint is on too. It's not perfect and I'll probably rip it off and get it professionally done later but I'm too lazy now. It's not too bad.

I put the white letter inside because I thought it looked a little goofy on the outside. Just personal preference.

Hank - Costco will honor the rebate. It's $75 for Revos.

If I'm not mistaken a couple members had Costco install the 265/70-17s. They said the 70 series tires fell with-in the tolerance percentage. Also, you can't beat the lifetime balance, rotation, road hazard, and cost.

I tried to argue that point to both Costcos I went to. They said if it's not the approved size in their book, they won't install it. Same with Firestone. It's not that bad for me since I have access to 3 shops but I would've rather just drop off my truck and had it done.
 
Costco installed the 265/70-17 Revos on my truck without a problem. They said it was the only size showing in their computer anyways, so they didnt give me a hassle at all.

Yep, as to be expected. The steering is a little heavier and acceleration is a bit slower. I don't think most people would notice though, it's that small of a difference.

The ride is the same or better. I'm not quite sure yet. Road noise is about the same as the Dunlops after driving down rt17 next to the concrete barrier with my window open at about 50mph.

I would easily recommend these tires for anyone looking for new tires and even if they werent. I replaced my Dunlops at 7150 miles so I didn't get to where they would be squirrely. I had no problems with them and I've gone thru 10"+ of unplowed snow on the streets in VT and the few snow storms here in NJ.

I was going to try to sell them but my bro-in-law said he could probably sell them so I left them at the shop.

Definitely one of the better upgrades I've done so far.

I know what you mean about the ride quality, I think they are the best A/T tire I've ever had. Wait until it rains or snows, you will really feel the difference. The steering feeling a little heavier may not be because of the increased size, it may from tire design. I noticed these tires are a little smoother over mild/medium bumps in the road. They also handle really well at high speeds. I have a portable GPS I can bring to the next meet and you can see what effect the size increase had on your speedo.

The GPS sounds like a good idea. I just figured about 3-4mph more at 60 indicated.

How do you feel about taking that purdy Salsa Red out on the trails? :D
