Largest duratracs for 3.5in lift 16in wheel

Morning everyone. Ok so I'm hoping to get some help from the tire guys. Right now I have 3.5 in lift running 265/70/r16 and they are great tires for the front rand in Colorado. My question is, I'd like to go bigger with the same duratracs. I don't lock my steering wheel either side very much so a little bit of rubbing, I can deal with... so with that said, without having to do any modifications to the runner what would be the largest duratracs I could run without any problems other than slight rubbing. I feel what's on there is a tad small and might look better with a larger tire.
I'm also not trying to just stuff the biggest tire and see what happens so if your think just one size up is a better idea than I will listen. The width seems fine but I think a taller tire would be nice. Maybe just one size is the ideal way but I'd love to hear thoughts on my rambling.

255/85 might be the next step, but I'm no tire expert. That's if you want a "taller" tire of course. I'm running a 285/75/16 but have decided that when it's time to get new tires again, I'm going with the 255's.

This has been talked about prolly 104914701384 times, so look out for the people that may troll you for this thread. As to your question, it largely depends on how hard you wheel. If you're flexing out your ifs and steering, then 285/75r16's are probably going to rub a bit. If you're just haulin down fire roads, 35's will most likely be fine. This goes into another thing to consider. Where you drive. Where I live in south Georgia, it would be totally livable to throw 35's on stock gearing. If you live in Colorado, you may want to refrain from really large tires until you regear. All up to you though. I'd say as a rule of thumb, 255/85r16 or 255/80r17 (true 33" tire) is the tallest tire you can put on your car without any real problems. 295/75r16 or 295/70r17 (34") will require a bit of pounding on the firewall and will start to tank mpg's, but it won't strain components too too hard and you can get away with it on stock gearing. 315/75r16 or 315/70r17 (35") is where you will have to tub the firewall and regear if you want to enjoy them to the fullest.

Thank you to both of your respond and yes I agree il prob get trolled but honestly looking at all the tires threads is just flat out confusion because everyone has an opinion. I agree with being in Colorado needing to re gear. I'm honestly just doing regular trails and not truly crawling over much at all. Where I'm at is definitely high, 9700 ft to be honest. So I do want to re gear down the road but as for now as I said it's trails that are marked not hidden crawler trails....so yes I definitely am concerned about the v6 just getting around on regular roads there's so much elevation changes when I go places. I can't thank u enough for the helpful replies Joe and Iron.

I got 255/85s with no lift and a winch in front. It took about 10 mins each side to hit back the firewall and to trim a piece off the fender flare end cap. Other than that no issues even full stuff with LC shocks. My bio says 890s in the back but they are sagged to the point that the truck is about level.

Width is more of a problem than anything with these trucks (285s vs 255s)
