I've searched and can't find anything recent on the 2024. I've been told by the inventory manager at my dealership that the 5th gen will have a final encore for 2024, when I will likely be a buyer. I found some info on this forum a few months ago, but can't for the life of me find anything recent. I'm probably staring right at it and missing it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

There is no info on 2024 4R as it will be the same as the 2023. If you want to read rumours about the 6th gen 4R look in the 6th gen section. There's a long thread on it.
Thanks. I am aware of that. I just was looking for any recent info on the final 5th gen year. At my age, it's likely the last T4R and/or vehicle I'll buy.

If you are looking for info on what the 6th gen t4r will have you should pay close attention to the next gen Tacoma release which was just teased and expected to debut this year and go into production late this year. We will see similar styling and direction in the 4runner. They are likely sharing the TNGA platform so will have similar specs / powertrains.
IMO between tech and hybridization I think buying brand new vehicles in the next few years is a terrible idea. There are too many vehicles getting refreshed / updated that you will either miss out on or if you get an updated model they will have new tech issues and kinks that need a few model years to resolve. All just my opinions, DYOR.

I don't think there's any word yet on what the probably final 5th gen model year, 2024, will bring. I think you can expect some kind of phoned-in trim similar to the 40th Anniversary that combines some stickers, a badge, maybe wheels, but that's about it. The thing sells well enough without changes, so I certainly wouldn't expect significant changes/upgrades for the final model year.
You can probably expect the price to hike a good bit. If you want a late 5th gen, might just be better to buy one sooner than later. 2023 already had a mid-model-year MSRP increase of $750 in January, and EPA fuel economy penalties they pay (and pass on to the buyer) are getting really steep for this kind of vehicle.

Thanks for the info related to my OP. I've only bought very basic SR5s without any extra frills. I just like the T4R and am interested in buying one more before they go all Turbo/4cylinder and who knows what else. It may be a no news is good news situation.
WRT price: the best prices I'm seeing locally currently are MSRP plus doc fee ($500). It's supply and demand and it's not where I would like it. I'm in no hurry, as my 2018 SR5 has less than 30K on it and any new purchase will be similarly equipped. So why trade up? Simple. We have a system of hand me downs in our family and need one more T4R to complete the stable. Sure, there may be a trade off. Any relaxation of the dealer markups may be offset by manufacturer price increases. I get that.

I agree, except in the case of the T4R I think we know that the next gen will be a four-cylinder turbo which I am not interested in. That's the kind of info I was asking about.

In my area, 4Runners have sold at or near MSRP for years. People know these are going away, and that's keeping demand high. No dealer has tons and tons of sitting stock of new 4Runners.
The cheapest new 5th gen you can get is probably now at MSRP, not a 2024 at... probably MSRP (a higher MSRP at that time in the future). I think you could expect 2024 to carry at least a $750 price increase. Maybe $1,000. Your call, if you want another new one. You probably have roughly 15-18 months to decide before the generation ends.

Thanks for that info. I'm not in any hurry, but also don't want to fall asleep at the wheel. I'm more concerned about just plain not getting another new one than any negative cost effects. I'm in the very small minority who buys 2WD 4R's. We never have snow or ice and the closest I get to off-roading is a gravel parking lot. A few months ago, all the dealers seemed to be getting in my state were 2WD. Now, dealers for 500 miles are only getting 4WDs. I'm sure Toyota had a reason for this, but hopefully it will revert to a normal mix in the next 15 - 18 months.

To be honest, from a sales and business perspective, I am quite surprised Toyota still bothers to make 2WD 5th gen 4Runners at all. I think they could've simplified parts stock and production with virtually zero sales downside getting rid of it by now.
Thanks. I'm surprised too. If I can't get a 2WD, I'll just pay for a 4WD. At least with Toyota, I'm not inviting extra maintenance issues that I don't need.
So it is likely that the new Toyota 4Runner will be available soon with a redesign for the 2024 Model year. and also according to Automotive news reports, the new 2024 Toyota 4Runner will come with Redesign as a Next-generation of Toyota 4Runner in 2024.

We’ve had an “order” with deposit since December ‘22 for a 2023 Off-road in Lunarock. Dealer has yet to be allocated. They keep pushing out Limiteds and Off-road Premiums, even SR5 Premiums, but not the basic models. At this rate, we may be staring at a 2024, but I will not pay the price increase as my “order” was already priced back in December.

Don't forget, you're already paying for the $750 MSRP increase that happened in January.
I originally wanted an Offroad with no options--especially not the $1600 "premium audio". I have yet to see a 2023 4Runner window sticker that isn't Premium trim or doesn't have the Premium Audio package. It seems straight up required for this year.
Due to that, I upped my order to an Offroad Premium, since that's a better deal than an Offroad with the $1600 Premium Audio Package. Got it exactly 6 months after ordering. Started 55th in line at my dealer, since they were an MSRP, no mandatory add-ons/fees dealer.

No we set the contracted price in December ‘22 and they took our $1k deposit on that. We have a written/printed sale agreement.
The Off-road Premium is typically $5K to $6K more than the Offroad and they come with Softex fake leather which we don’t want. No interest in the $1,600 premium audio package either. Most ORPs are showing up with moon-roofs and KDSS suspension, neither of which we want.

Gooood luck getting a base base 2023 TRD Offroad. Like I said, that's what I originally wanted, and I haven't seen a SINGLE 2023 TRD Offroad window sticker that didn't have the $1600 audio package... and I looked at dozens of those window stickers over the months hoping to find one.
TRD Offroad Premiums with no $$ options do exist, my dealer just got me one. ZERO options. The TRD Offroad Premium is $2600 more than base TRD Offroad, $1,000 more than TRD Offroad w/ Premium Audio, and $750 more when you factor in that Offroad Premium gets a larger Keep It Wild Savings discount than the TRD Offroad does. It became a no brainer for me. I also absolutely love these seats, so comfortable, and easy to clean after camping.
Finally, just to make life worse, it appears that in the last month or so, 4Runner MSRPs went up ANOTHER $600 (they had gone up $750 in January as well). Two freaking mid-model-year MSRP increases. Sucks.
Good luck getting your dealer to eat all these MSRP increases beyond their control. I virtually guarantee they won't. "Purchase contract" or not, there is almost always a way for a dealer to get out of a sale if they want to. And there's usually provisions for when manufacturers increase prices. If I was a dealer that was somehow locked into an exact price with you, and was looking at having to eat over a thousand dollars in Toyota MSRP increases, somehow, I would simply refund your deposit and wish you good luck. I'm not trying to be rude, it just appears that you have purchase expectations that will probably not be met. You could contact your dealer about the January and May MSRP increases and ask if they'll be honoring their original price and eating those increases themselves. I'd be surprised if they said yes.

i really wanted a bronco when they came (back) out, but i couldn't/ can't bring myself to buy a turbo charged 4 cylinder. bought a 2021 Rav4 over a honda CRV solely because of turbo. my friend who works for ford corporate, said they are going turbos to meet epa requirements for emissions and mpg, sounds logical but not this guy. my MGM ORP arrived in port may 5th, i'm like a little kid waiting for santa.
