LawnDart's Build Thread

The adjuster is coming over today to document it. I'm sure insurance will make it right, but it just sucks.

The day before I replaced the LAST part on the vehicle that was damaged from Baja. I'm so close to just quitting. I seriously just want to give up on this vehicle.

The shit that got damage though can be fixed.

I get it, it seriously sucks, but I wouldn't let a methed out tweaker ruin everything you've been through with the 4runner. Minimal in comparison to those things, IMO.

NO! dont quit, I just found your sweet ride its amazing. Dont let the haters/tweakers win. You are too good for that.

This is definitely a kick in the balls. Take a deep breath and regroup. Building your rig and maintaining it at such a high level should not be a chore. I know you've said you're OCD but perfection is a delusion. Do what you enjoy. If grabbing big air in Baja is what gets your ya ya's off then go for it. You're under no obligation to please the social media masses. Maybe it's time for a change?

Well...because they damaged the airbag, it's not considered drivable.

So it's on a tow truck to the body shop. Hoping 2-3 weeks, in time to then head down to CA to Pelfrey.

UGHHHHH

I'll say it again, giving up on the 4Runner is not an option. (At least not under these circumstances) Whatever you would replace it with, you would end up making it awesome because that's what you do. I cannot see you driving around in some tired-ass p.o.s. vehicle. So no matter what you drive, it'll be a magnet for thieves. Most of the vehicles on here are.

Just remember, it's stuff. You've put sweat, labor, and money into it, but in the end it's just stuff. You will fix it and it will be awesome again.

THE JAPTOR SHALL RISE FROM TEH ASHES!! :flame:

Well said!!! I was about to compose similar to this, but with my bad English it would not have been this clear...!!!

Isaac, don't get to depressed with this. I know it is frustrating, but you have to move on and fix the 4Runner. It is your baby but we love it!

Your truck all smashed to sh*t looks better than 99% of the 4Runners on the forum, one crap incident can't be the determining factor of selling this beast! It sucks that ass***** have to ruin other peoples hard earned property. Don't give up!

It's an Icon of the forum.

How dare the heathen blasphemer desecrate our paragon of perfection and inspiration!

I just realized we have to name the new and improved Japtor: FREEDOM 4RUNNER

The tower must rise again!

(Sorry, I get carried away sometimes. lol)

It's really hard not to feel dismayed. I'm a freelancer, so I go through periods of making money really quickly after a lot of work, to periods of no work and no money where I do my best to make the most out of top ramen.

It was a severe lack of money over the past 7-9 months, while still fixing up the vehicle.

I literally had the LAST component replaced (a rear brake line) on wednesday.

Now this. I'm sure I'll feel better when it's all fixed up, but it's starting to feel like a routine of the set backs.

Life itself is a series of setbacks. You can rebuild and learn from them or let the setbacks build on you.

As a previous victim of auto burglary (thrice) it definitely sucks and I do feel sorry for you and your 4runner. Insurance will hopefully make it right. This just adds to the story.

I was hoping that you didn’t become a victim to the crazy auto burglary and theft that’s going on in Albuquerque when you visited. At least they didn’t get to you here.

Have you thought about an alarm system? Sometimes all it takes is that blinking light to make them move on to an easier target.

You give up and I will find you and personally kick you in the balls.

Only because I like you.:dammit:

LawnDart, many can sympathize with the anger, frustration and violation of what you're going through, I've had cars broken into twice and house once. It sucks hard. We picked up the pieces, paid the deductibles, became harder targets and moved forward with life determined not to let them steal our joy. I trust you will find your way forward through your own set of circumstances and priorities.

Yep, it's really the sense of getting EVERYTHING dialed, and back together, and then this happens.

The shop got a new window installed, and they'll be ordering all the new parts this week. Hopefully 2-3 weeks to have it all cleaned up, then back to get re-wrapped.

Just a waste of time and money in the end.

That sums up off-roading! But hey, we knew it was a money pit going in. Only thing is, we don't want someone else spending our money.

That really does suck, though. Kind of doubtful they'll find they guy, just hope whatever his payback is that it is a *****.

I don't mind when I do the damage. I mind when some piece of garbage human does the damage...on purpose.
