Hung out with Overland Bound today. I'm working on a few articles for them after we discussed it over a few drinks, then had some show and tell:
Well crap...can't find my badge# but I'm looking forward to your articles.

Thanks, working on an article about "everyday overlanding" which concerns the practical concerns regarding daily driving an expo style rig.
That will be a good article, I like the more practical geared articles with the realities listed along with the pros of modifications.
Question: I know the wheels travel in an Arc but it looks like your 35"s would wipe out the front fenders on more then just a few inches (maybe its 6", hard to tell) of up travel, do you have some sort of bump stops to prevent this or do I not understand something?
As always, appreciate the photos and build

For some dumbass reason I opted to take Highway 1 from the bay area to Eureka CA (My plan was to go up to Crescent City but the trip took waaaaay longer than I thought).
My review of Highway 1: I did not skip arm day. Driving a long travel 4Runner through the coastal roads was both pretty exhausting, and pretty awesome. Amazing little towns only 2-3 blocks long, sandwiched between vistas that are hard to describe.

I'm curious about the road manners as well...Can you elaborate more on the "exhausting" aspect.... I ask because I've also made this drive and understand in the poor weather conditions how mentally exhausting those types of drives can be... they just drain you, period. The level of concentration has to be so high.
Wondering if that's what you experienced or if the "new mods" added a new element to the driving experience.
Example: Driving my 80 Series on 37's takes allot more concentration then say driving my slightly modified 4Runner down the road.
More "sway" with the LT maybe, added body roll perhaps and over all your learning the truck all over again I'd think. Learning it's new characteristics and where those limits are with the new set up.
Last, how did the new tires do in the wet stuff ? Very curious about these tires, as they are still new not many reviews on them yet.
Sounds like you opted to head inland, I hear the drive up the "lost coast" is pretty amazing just above where you ditched.

lol
I've seen on the offroad build shows when moving up to bigger wheels/tires they will put in a stronger steering actuator. Is that something you considered or, maybe now will?
I remember driving a few work trucks in the days before power steering. Two handed turns were a must. lol

Stiller turning is something I have. It doesn't want to just snap back to straight on its own. More due to increased track width I think. Plus, it takes some getting used to driving the narrow hwy 1. Yes, I personally love the lost coast and some amazing places to eat once up past Jenner... cool camping spots too. Another trip you should do it LawnDart
I've never seen hydro assist on an IFS... not to say it can't be done but that would be very interesting to see.
