This is one of my favorite builds, it's well thought out and used how it's meant to be. Not a mall crawler, not off road cool, just plain cool.

Also, a build like yours would have me paranoid about truck theft one day when i'm not looking. Maybe there is a certain fuse one can pluck and take with them to ensure a hot-wire or similar cant be done?

Thanks. Trying to tread the line between "overland" style and daily driver. Probably failed in keeping it simple but that's life.

Biggest i've hit is a coyote, and the bumper took it like a champ. Generally speaking if you hit a deer even with an ARB bumper it'll still mess your truck up pretty bad. It's not a get out of jail free card to have a big steel bumper. Just keep that in mind.

RE: security. My maxtrax have a cable lock that runs through the lower handles, and through the spokes in the spare tire's rim. A padlock keeps it secure. Water/Fuel tanks are secured via a padlock. HiLift has locking mounts. Similar idea with my axe and rotopax. My shovel is using the bomber products shovel lock mounts. I have heavy duty zip ties on that. If someone really...reaaaaaally...wants to steal my 15 dollar home depot shovel...more power to them.

As for a killswitch, don't have one yet, I've considered it, but I thankfully keep my truck in a secure garage here in town, and generally speaking I don't park it anywhere I don't trust such as airport parking lots, etc.

I added a kill switch to my first gen. It was keyed and gave a good piece of mind. I know not the same but I will add similar protection to my current one. I missed it, what beadlocks are you running? I've had trail ready and DIY before...as well as method's. Not that I really need them but we do snow a lot and looking at wheel options at this point.

Just wondered, I figure if I hit a deer at speed, I will have more to worry about than the bumper. Just figured I would use the deer as a animal yardstick on how sturdy the aluminum is? How is your mileage if you don't mind? I am a long ways from your level, but someday I will get there.

I totally have no idea how it'd handle it but I know folks who've hit deer and it usually did major damage to the frame/pillars, but they weren't injured, which is about all you can expect out of almost all bumpers, ARB included.

Anyways...dropped the truck off today to change out the rear springs, which should help lift the rear end a tad more, and help eliminate the lean, and even out the preload on our coilovers, also sound deadening the doors, and doing a hood wrap which I mocked up in photoshop:

Thought I would provide just my experience regarding this.

I rear ended a Kia at approximately 35-40 mph. My front bumper actually took the impact and gave way. It bent my fenders slightly but it pushed my bumper back (not into my frame but at a tilt). Everything was able to be bent back into place and there was zero frame damage. You can see how it was pushed in this picture:


Was impressed at how it handled the accident and had I been without it, I don't think I would have this rig today. They definitely don't have that Kia any longer as my rear bumper was in their trunk.

Just giving some insight. Carry on.

I do agree, that center stripe should look good. We like ours.

The photo chop you have looks killer...

I run a similar design on my 80 series and it really helps with glare.

On the runner I've found all you really need is the scoop done, I was getting glare off that just driving in the sun!

I'm totally ripping off the scoop design I saw on the Expedition Overland "build" that Toyota made of their rigs for exhibition/auto show use. Really the only thing on their builds I've wanted to copy.

I did have to order a new/unpainted hood scoop, similar to how I did my fender flares, because wrapping the stock scoop usually doesn't result in the best outcome. And it was only 80 dollars.

We'll see how it turns out. My hood keeps getting hammered by rock debris so I bet next year I'll have to get my hood re-painted at this rate. :Cry:

So first off, this is really cool, secondly wraps allow you to make tweaks that paint wouldn't allow you to do. This looks really cool, but not as long as I wanted. So the shop is going to re-wrap it. But it's still super cool and the next attempt should nail it.

I bet that helps with the awful sun glare in the eyes from the scoop.

This does not suck. You see because it's exactly what I needed and is therefore good. And it's also not functional which means it doesn't work as a true air scoop.

That is the joke.
