Hahaha best visualization ever. Break over angle wha?
Lol. What?! Okay.
So we just got into San Ignacio. And I’m riding in a gen 2 raptor this trip. But driving a raptor back from Cabo. Here’s my take away. Overall...this makes my raptor boner go very flacid. I guess now that I’ve driven some of the same trails with the 4Runner and the raptor, I think my 4Runner does more better overall. The raptor is great in open country. But in technical terrain the 4Runner eats it alive. Day 1 we did technical terrain and rock crawling and it was painful to have to spot it down ledges and rocks that the 4Runner would just walk all over.
Simply put: sorry guys, I’m keeping my 4Runner. You’ll have to put up with me for a lot longer. I’m not bailing.

Do you think it's the shear size of the Raptor compared to the 4Runner? Longer wheel base, wider or do you think it had more to do with the 4wd system?
I guess if you have another itch to scratch there's always the Jeep JL Rubicon...lol
That looks neat! Could you post what parts you used and how intense it is to replace the screen? Thanks!
Honestly, Isaac, this makes me feel justified in turning down a good deal on a Ford Raptor 2 years ago. I don't do open desert racing, but your previous posts had me questioning my rational. Good to know my logic was sound.

Have you not gotten to the "driving one" part of the trip yet? Wonder if being behind the wheel will make you reevaluate.
I do remember watching some videos about the Raptor where people were doing normal off road type stuff and them mentioning how it's a bit more difficult with the width and wheelbase whereas a smaller Jeep or 4Runner could go through areas without so much as a second thought. But then again, if you end up wanting to do fast desert stuff the majority of the time, it would make more sense to have the factory performance of the Raptor.
I don't know where this leaves me in terms of what I'll do with the 4Runner. But I know that the Raptor isn't meant for me.
I may swap to Fox Shocks...and performance wise it'll be the same, but for Trail of Missions it kinda helps to be running the sponsor equipment, just for the TV show.
...But I'll probably make some changes to my 4Runner for sure.
I'm going to assuredly go from my Nitto Ridge Grappler 35/12.50R17s E Loads to C Loads (C's weren't available at the time in that size when I got them 2 years ago).
The 5th gen 4runner has charm and a fair amount of character.. I feel like the tech (same thing that many people complain is lacking about in the 4R) has been the downfall of modern vehicles.
They are pretty much forgettable and somehow I think the 6th gen will drop into that category also.
Sweet build btw
5th gens are more common than colds.
