As usual, your photograph defines the feel your post. I has a sad about this as I've really enjoyed this build and your adventures. That said, I'm looking forward to the Raptor build (keep telling yourself it'll be mild
) and, especially, more Pozzi!!

Thanks, this happened over the course of a month. I was contacted by someone who wanted my vehicle, knew how much time and effort I'd put into it, and wanted a turn key vehicle. I didn't have to strip it apart, and sell it piece by piece, which would have been the worst thing to have to go through. I didn't have to also endure what Adventure Driven went through with their Lexus build, where you ask a certain amount for it publicly and watch as everyone tears you a new ******* because they think they could build it cheaper.
The timing sucks because of the whole Pelfreybilt situation, obviously, but this was in motion before that.

In some ways I really didn't have as great an experience riding in the raptor this year during Trail of Missions, and I think thats because being just a passenger was really tough.
The raptor's owner had never even sat in his passenger seat before, nevertheless had someone else off road it, so I could tell just letting me co-drive it was stressing him out. So ultimately I just took the high road and let him drive. Which I understand, you can SAY "oh yeah here take the keys!" but baja is no joke, and even if you're well insured, once you break someone elses' truck things go south really really fast. It's an easier said than done kind of thing.
I think had I gotten to drive my own vehicle I would have come away with a lot more positive set of feelings.

Sad to see you go, and I will miss seeing your rig around town. I just saw you a week or two ago stuck in typical 217 traffic and figured that meant you had made it through all of the repairs and headaches. Glad to hear you were able to get an amount that made it worth it!
Your build was what many dream of, and what most will never achieve or need. You built it, and most importantly, you used it. Thank you for the inspiration, and for sharing.

Since I've been really open and honest in my thinking, and have talked about the Raptor...A LOT...I'll share my thought process on why I'm switching.
Ultimately it comes down to capabilities out of the box.
If you think of it like a big venn diagram, the 4Runner and Raptor were heavily overlapped, but the Raptor has twice the power, a ton more features, factory long travel, 35" tires by default, and it was actually cheaper to insure it overall.
Frankly even though there was that overlap, the 4Runner was 1000lbs heavier, half as powerful, way lacking on features I wanted, and the crux of the issue...it was more aftermarket than OEM. I spent most of my time just keeping creaking noises, squeaks, etc, from happening in an effort to keep parts playing nice with each-other.
I really enjoyed the 4Runner, and on technical terrain it would haul ass over obstacles that the Raptor had to work harder on. That said, I didn't find the 4Runner a very enjoyable vehicle to drive other than that. I also rounded out at about 12.4mpg. I'll get 18mpg on the raptor, with a 36gallon tank for long distance trips.
Baja has become something I want to do more of, and not worrying about WHAT I have to strip out of the 4runner just to minimize damage was something I was getting tired of having to contemplate. It cost me almost 10-14K just to repair it after last year's trail of missions.
The 4Runner *is* a good platform, but it needs upgrades from Toyota that I just don't think are coming for a long long time. It had reached a point where I sat there realizing that I wasn't going to solve those problems.
Frankly...I just wanted something out of the box that could do what MY 4Runner does but with way less effort to do so.

Probably not to talk about the raptor, but I'm more than happy to provide any advice from experiences learned on the 4Runner.
