It's funny how we all basically slowly convert our trucks from metric to standard with each aftermarket part.

I understand the issue quite well, no mod is better than OEM in that regard.

It's probably a good swap for you and what you want to do with your truck.

[The Raptor] was actually cheaper to insure it overall.

My insurance actually drops 70 dollars with the Raptor, because I'm not carrying aftermarket parts insurance now. Go figure, I think it's because the Raptor inherits the low insurance rate costs of the F150.

Haha, yeah that's amazing how it does slowly convert to standard in the end.

I think my wakeup call was that I loved my total chaos and king setup, but when my buddy got his Gen 2 Raptor we went down to the shipyards down the street and hit speed bumps at 70mph, and you could hear them, but couldn't feel them. And yet when I did the same test on my 4runner it was basically punching me in the kidneys.

Amazing what those trucks can do with stock suspension.

All mfg's are prone to recalls these days. You just have to hope they actually have a real fix ready.

these days pretty much all the makes are reliable but at the same time they pretty much all have recalls at one point or another. Gone are the days of ONLY Toyota being reliable. Except for 1st gen titans. Good luck to anyone buying one:bolt:

All mfg's are prone to recalls these days. You just have to hope they actually have a real fix ready.

It’s a 20 minute fix on an assembled truck. They fixed mine which is in production while on the assembly line in a few minutes.

I believe this came from Robert Sharma (never read his books and am pretty sure they're mostly crap given the genre) - "don't live the same year 75 times and call it a life." Even if the Raptor is worse - if the vehicle is a big part of the fun of going out, changing it when you get bored is a wise choice just for the sake of doing something different. At some level it's a form of entertainment. At least for me. Trying new things is part of the enjoyment.

Agreed. Too many people think a vehicle is like a marriage. You're not buying something forever, and as such we reach the end of where we want to take something, and it's okay to move on.

We did some unique things with the 4Runner, and did them first in a few cases, and people benefitted as a result (information, new products, etc). In that regard it was totally worth it for everyone.

I was trying to think of a witty post title, but I couldn't think of any.

So after 3.5 years of building my vehicle, lots and lots of mods, some amazing trips, write ups, tutorials, and meeting a ton of you guys locally and along the road, I wanted to announce the 4Runner is officially sold and on it's way to it's new life in one of the fly-over states.

This has been in motion for the past month, and I was given an offer on it I would have been daft to have passed up. I'm moving on to a 2018 Supercrew Raptor, which is something I've wanted for a long time, a very long time.

I'll still drop in to answer whatever technical questions I can about the 4Runner I built. But I sincerely wanted to thank everyone who helped with the build, loved seeing it, even those who didn't like it, it was still a fun ride.

It was a great run and a great build! We will miss seeing pictures/adventures with the truck on the forums. I don't know if I could have sold a vehicle that heavily modified, it was so personal and built just how you wanted, but props to moving on and ordering another sweet ride. Best of luck with the Raptor, can't wait to see pictures of it with some modifications. Cheers!

He's not on social media, so the truck will not be popping up on social media unless the guy goes to an event.

In some way that's kinda nice, because it won't be like running into an ex.

I had a BMW that I built up amazingly well and then sold it to a local guy. Kept seeing it and hearing about it until he stuffed it into a wall and totaled it. It was very much like continuously running into an ex.

It was a cool truck, and I felt great knowing it left all in perfect cosmetic and functional condition, but I was ready to move on to the next project.
