Pulling out of a parking space at Target (thank god not on the freeway) my LBJ came out and the LCA is resting on the rim!!! Posting from my iPhone. Currently waiting for a tow truck, but I'll leave you with a few pics! FML!

Should be an easy inexpensive fix if you are able to do yourself. If not maybe a couple of us So Cal guys can give a hand if you want. Still sucks though.

Although this sucks majorly, I'm very glad that it happened in a parking lot rather than on the road or freeway. The important thing is that you're safe, and at least nothing else appears to be damaged.

If one of mine ever fails, I hope it fails JUST LIKE THAT.

You dodged a bullet on that one. All you have to do is jack that thing up, put a new LBJ in and keep driving like it never happened.

EDIT... Since we cannot have a LBJ failure thread without carnage, I must add these pics, courtesy of Pikeman.

This thread is like passing through a traffic jam, expecting a terrible accident at the end, and when you finally get through it one car rear ended another at 5mph... there's no damage, and they're still waiting for cops to show.

Wow, that sucks. Are you going to replace with new oem? Tacoma style? or aftermarket? Pretty sure mine are going to need to be swapped in the near future.

That does suck, but I've got to agree with the others. If my LBJ's ever go, I want it to happen exactly like that!

damn you got lucky. . good thing the only thing damaged was the LBJ and if I were you I'd replace the other side too if you already haven't

I was going to say check your CV, but something is missing. Ahhhhh. I have NEVER seen an LBJ fail on a 2WD 4runner, but there is a first for everything.

Consider yourself lucky.

This should definitely show that the LBJ design for the 4runner is less than acceptable.

If those were the original lbjs with that many miles, than I guess its not that unreasonable that they failed. But still it blows my mind that these things fail like that. Glad youre ok man. I cant believe that people havent been killed from this and Toyota hasnt been sued . . . or maybe they have. Is your truck lifted? I can see the bilstein in there but cant tell if you have stock or Tundra coils.

Were they the originals?

I've seen at least two threads where newish Moog LBJs totally failed.

The Toyota ones are supposed to be golden for at least 100k.
