LC 8 wraps too tall, how to bring it down a bit

Hi T4R,

Recently I lifted the ol' girl with TRD front springs up front and LC 8 wraps in the back, Bilstein 5100's all the way around. The front on the second notch is perfect for my 285/65/16's but the rear is a good 4 inches too tall. I don't carry any extra weight, so the rump is up there like a cat in heat. Would other LC springs help bring the back end down 2 inches or so? If yes, then which ones should I look for, if no, what might work well?

Pictures are always nice, so here is one that does't do a very good job at showing the massive rake the 4runner now has. I'll get a better visual tomorrow in the daylight.

Mine did the same, i just loaded my truck with a lotta weight and drove it around for couple weeks and took the weight out and the spring settled about a inch

When did you install them? The springs need a few weeks to settle and they will most likely come down .5"-1"

LC coil don't handle load very well so if you throw a subwoofer back there it'll sag it a inch or so.

Interesting. I've always wanted to run two 15's with a gigantic 90lb box...

then you have to over load them for a month or so, im talking about load it with sand bags till you have a brolean then drive around, mine has that because i load a lotta weight in my truck i have 8.25 wrap and it sagged about 2.5 inches. had 5.5 inch lift before

Lucky for me (but maybe not for my 4runners rake) my years of "go ugly early" are long in my past. Somehow this lovely creature likes to stick around.:rockon:

Did you leave the bump stops in?

Mine's raked too but I somewhat like it. Levels off with gear, which I'm loaded almost every weekend. Then it's not squatted. Either a dirt bike trailer, camping gear, or dirt bike hitch hauler.

The only options I see for ya...

1- Add weight to the rear that you always keep in there (subs, hi-lift, gear, sleeping platform, bumper, etc)
2- Add a ton of temporary weight and hope the springs sack out/break in early (will only net a bit of change, maybe 1")
3- Cut the rear springs (ghetto, but it works)
4- Swap to different rear springs (what I would do)

I did leave them in, and they are the LC bump stops, not the 4runners. how much would that lower the car with them removed, maybe 1/2"?

1. I'd rather not add weight as I commute in the truck, so unecessary weight would kill gas milage for no reason.
2. I'm think I'm going to try this out. before I go with option 4
3. Looking at the springs, it doesn't look like they can be cut without being super ghetto. the lower section winds down into a smaller diameter to sit on the axle correctly, and the upper section is ground flat at the top to sit nicely on the body. I'd worry about modifying either... plus I'm not in high school anymore and I can afford another $75 for a set of 7 wraps.
4. I think this will be the option I end up with if 2 doesn't work out. What is a good spring that is taller than stock, but not as tall as the 8 wraps???

Maybe some OME 891 springs? Stiff enough to hold some weight, shorter than your LC springs.

Option #5 - lift the front up higher! Go to the 3rd perch on the TRD's or get Eibach 3 in. lift coils on the first or second perch (mine are on the second)

Bump up your front another notch... It will still ride great.
