lc 861?

So i have the lc 8 wraps right now and want to go with a more heavy spring rate so when i load up the rear dont sag down too much and was looking at the lc 861. and is wondering how much lift does thewse spring really give with stock wieght?

for those who are running these springs please chim in thanks

I've read up a lot about these and it seems like 4-5 inches over stock.

They seem to be a really nice coil, no one has anything bad to say about them and the ride is supposed to be good.
 
Those springs are reported to lift Landcruisers .5-1" over stock and to be more firm than stock. I just cant imagine them riding nice on a 3rd gen without a decent amount of weight. Id like to hear what others say as well...sub'd
 
JUst like the OP, I had the 8 wraps but have since switched to 861's. I have a constant amount of weight in the cargo plus the tire carrier and found the 8wraps buckling to the weight i normally carry abit.

Enter 861's and I'm back to a nice rake, even fully loaded, unless you carry the extra weight you're gonna get a bouncier ride. Otherwise they're plush very much comparable to 8 wraps unloaded.

I measured them to give about 1" of extra lift from the 8 wraps as soon as I switched...but then again, they had yet to settle. I can't imagine they would've settled down 1" to this day for such rated spring.
 
I have the 861's and I love them. Like blcktpgsr said, I gained about an inch of lift over my fully loaded 7.5 LC springs and the 4Runner rides much better, no more bottoming out all the time. I do have all my gear in the 4Runner 100% of the time so I built the suspension around that, they might set a little tall if your running around without gear some of the time.
 
I'm running the 861's on the front of my Land Cruiser, and gained about a 1/4 inch over the stock front coils, much better ride, less diving/squatting behavior. Sounds like they make a similar change to the characteristics of a 3rd gen. Likely a better way to get less sag than going to the taller LC OEM springs for you guys. I expected to gain more, but the diesel, dual batteries, and winch likely have a lot to do with my results.

hey thank u all for the info i think that should be a good enough excuse for me too swap out my lc 8 wraps for the 861s but one more thing i recently bought the 5125 bilstiens for the rear and i really think its a little short for the lc 8 wraps and if the 861 are gona be 1'' taler should/would i need new longer shocks? what shocks are yall runnin?
 
I had LC 9.25 wrap coils before I switched to the 861s. The LCs rode great and flexed great. As you have said, load up for a week of wheeling and camping and they would sink a few inches.

The 861s (after a few months of settling) are about where the 9.25s were on my rig (with my normal load). My normal load is: steel rear bumper, tire carrier, cargo box, tools, basic camping gear, basic recovery gear. Loaded for two on a week trip, the whole rig only compressed one inch on all corners.

I like the ride. It's definitely firmer than with the LCs.
 
861s FTW! I've had mine for probably like 2 years or so and they haven't sagged really at all. I still have 3.5-4" of lift back there with the tire-carrier and all my junk. They are good, but I can't really imagine them with stock weight, lol. They'll probably force you to buy a big steel rear bumper. ;-)
 
I've also got a 10mm trim packer and E load range duratracs with stock weight. It bounces around pretty good.
 
The rear shocks that I'm running are Bilstein 5100 and are for the F-150 with a 6" lift.

The shocks are the BE5-6528-H5. They are a stem mount on the top so there is no need for the eye adapter. Extended length is 21.5" and collapsed is 13.27". The valving is 389/94 (usual valving is 255/70). They are a little stiff but I get very little body roll while zipping around the mountain highway corners.

I'm sitting (with my normal load) at about 25.5" (hub center to wheel lip) in the back. That's about 5.5" of lift.

i think i have the oem lc shocks it came with the coils but they are the same length as the 5125 bilies i got from toytec and imo its a little short they both measure about 21.5'' extended an 13.5'' colaspsed

im not worry about havin enough weight to combine with the load rate of the springs i recently justr built a tire carrie that ataches to my hitch with a spare 35'' tire and with my tool bag and hi lift i think il be aite but forcin me to buy a steel bumber ;):

Yes. My lift is in my Sig. I'm running the extended billies for the fj though that toytec sells. I've ran the oem Toyota ones before and they were long enough.
 
I checked with ARB and they said the shocks for the 861's are

60018's

Anyone recommend using the OME shocks? Is the 861 a front coil for the LC?
Does this mean I'd need a rear shock for that lift setup?

I'm pretty set on the toytec coilovers in the front.

The rear is most likely going to be the 861's, or the superflex rear coils.

Confusing stuff, I have a plate rear bumper but it's not super heavy. I'm going to be adding a tire carrier to it with a 35" tire so I guess it'll get heavier.

I'm almost prefer to have the 861 just so that when I load it up or tow I know it'll support it. I'm not too concerned about the ride as I think my truck is on original coils and shocks all around and handles like poop anyways.

I'm not lifting for a month or so, gotta save up a bit plus it'll be useless to me in the winter as the only wheeling i'll get is a glorified dirt road covered in snow.
