LC coils: double purple/red/white?

I found a crashed 93 FJ80 with a set of front coils still on the rig. I checked out the paint marks to see what kind of lift I could get out of them (I've been looking to lower the rear end level with the front). One coil is a double purple/light blue/white, and the other is a double purple/red/white, which I haven't seen anything about. I'm assuming this is just the match to the first coil. Does it matter which side each coil goes on? Once I get a better idea of what kind of lift I can expect out of it, I'll have a pair of coils up for sale. The coils on the rear of my truck are also LC coils, but I haven't checked the paint marks on them.

not sure if this helps, but this is from the sonoran steel website for 96-02 4runners:

"If you look for used coils, you want to get the FRONT coils (which go in the 4Runners rear) from a 1995-1997 FZJ80. No other years work correctly. Nothing from a Lexus. If the seller does not know what year they came out of, then don't buy them. Counting wraps is not our benchmark, we use actual model years, we CAN NOT tell if the number of wrap are correct, know the model year!

The ONLY used springs you want and will work correctly are One: green/orange/white and the Second: purple/gray/white"

I'm assuming that he LC coils on my truck would be the wrong ones to use, as they are considerably stiffer than the stock shocks on my dad's 01. Well, I'd like to find an economically friendly way to get a shorter lift to level the rear, and the Sonoran Steel rear sit-ups are about $700. Any other options out there?

The LC coils that Sonoran Steel lists part numbers for are around $90 each from the many online toyota oem parts sites (purple/grey/white)

I actually think the stance of your 4runner looks pretty good & having the extra rake will help compensate those times when you have your truck loaded down with weight. As far as which coil goes on which side, usually the taller coil will go on the driver side. But if you were looking to lower the back end a little, have you looked into the ome 890's? What kind of shocks are you running with your coils? The 890s typically give ~3inch lift and give a nice ride.

Okay, that's a lot more economical. I went ahead and purchased the two coils from the junked LC since they weren't too expensive. I've been looking at OME coils. I found a pair of 890's for $170 shipped , so that may be my answer.

I don't usually haul much of anything in my 4runner, aside from my 100 lb. dog, so I'm not too concerned about weight over the rear axle. It is something to consider in the future if I decide to go with a heavy duty bumper setup. Good thing I have two sets of coils! I'm not sure what kind of shocks I'm running, but they look similar to the LC shocks I saw on the junked LC. I'll have to get under the truck and check for part numbers when it stops raining. Any suggestions for a good shock to run with the 890's?

The toytec boss shocks i'm running give a really nice factory like ride. The bilstein 5100s would be an equally good option.

Agree, if you got a good deal on the LC coils and you like the way they ride, would highly recommend keeping them in case you change your mind later on or continue to do some more experimenting until you find a set up that works best for you...that's currently what I'm doing now
