LC80 Snorkel fit on 4run?

Just to weigh the pros and cons, what kind of draw backs are there to a snorkel? I have never run one before, I imagine they are the ultimate cold air intake though!

Its a piece that you may or may not need if you get the safari snorkel. That particular snorkel is designed for a Tacoma and the inlet tube on a Tacoma has an extra piece our 4runners don't have.

I think I read where a guy said he didn't need the extra piece but I don't know for sure.

I remember mine arriving much faster than i was expecting.

I attached two recent pictures of my 4runner. The lower front bolt (there are 5 total plus the 3 rivets on the windshield pillar) just need to be tightened up a good bit more, that is why there is a gap.

Thanks for the pictures. Did you just fab a template off of the snorkel itself? That's what I'm leaning toward as it seems there's no instructions provided.

yea the no "destructions” with it make be just a little hesitant, more so the lack of a template part I guess.

Mine DID come with a template. I think i may still have it somewhere, not 100% sure though.

i also have the hilux snorkel available on ebay. mine came within a week from the seller in Malaysia. the fitment is pretty decent, but a lot of measuring was involved since the provided template was useless as it was made for a Hilux front end. if you are a perfectionist and want it to fit 100% snug, this snorkel is not for you.

the template with mine was pretty close to being dead on, Ill see if i can find it in the garage. I think i just lined it up with the fender/door edge, and the antenna and went to drilling away. and it turned out alright.:dizzy:

ebay Hilux snorkel here. plumbing it was a pita .I use some pvc fittings to the rubber coupler

Only time will tell. I have a ScanGauge that tells intake temps. I have been mentally noting the outside temps and intake temps. I'll compare these to the after the install temps.

I assume a little ram air boost at highway speeds.

The first time I drove mine after the install was to a ORV park about 50 miles away. I THOUGHT i noticed a tiny bit of different once I past 70 mph, but it could have just been the old butt dyno. However there is a high pressure area around the lower part of most cars windshields, whether the intake is positioned well enoughto take advantage of it still remains to be seen.
