LC80 Snorkel fit on 4run?

I just got mine in the mail yesterday, I took it out for a dry fit in between doing my body lift that shootmymime makes and it fits pretty good. It does come with a paper guide that seems to be close to our fenders. Have to go out and buy the right tools for the job should have it on by this weekend. Ill try and snap some pics along the way.
 
*Warning, the template was not correct for the 4runner. It was correct for the large intake hole but not the mounting bolts.*

I covered the whole fender with masking tape to protect the paint. I also removed the inner fender and unbolted the fender.
I taped the pattern onto the fender, lining up the top and the door. This snorkel it for the Tiger so I'm going to double and triple check alignment.

After confirming that the large air intake hole in in the correct position (including where it mounts to the A pillar), I removed the fender and used some foam rubber to protect the fender from the jigsaw, drilled a hole and cut out the hole.

Once the snorkel was slipped thru the hole, I realized that the template mounting holes were not in the proper positions. I outlined and taped the snorkel to the template.

This allowed me to flip the snorkel over and find the holes, pushing on the template to make the holes

Then I taped the template back on the fender and drilled the 5 mounting holes, (painted the raw steel edges).
This shows how far off the mounting holes were on the template (up to 2")

I mounted the snorkel to the fender using the supplied hardware (silicone around bolts), mounted the fender (bolting the fender on). I drilled the three holes in the A pillar and screwed it on (I chose to use screws instead of the pop rivets)

Now to turn my attention to the connection to the air box. I removed all the stock tubes and slid on the big rubber elbow that is supplied (this required some serious stretching and some WD40). then feed the rubber elbow back thru the inner fender hole. From under the fender, slip the elbow onto the snorkel tube (some WD40 again. Re-installed the inner fender.

Glad to see I wasnt the only one to have a Problem. That is the exact way i did it also.

Yea I notice this after I dry fitted it and then tried to get it to line up to the template. Im doing mine on sunday but I think its a great and cheaper alternative to the Tacoma snorkel. 180 bucks and shipped to my door, pretty fast too. No need to change the antenna or get a Tacoma intake tube. Only time will tell how the hold up.

It fits fairly well. There is a small gap because it's made for the Tiger. I have heard that the Tacoma one also has some gaps. Everything needed for the install was included. The template is NOT correct but its easy enough to adapt it. It took me about 5 hours but that includes repairing some body damage that I had on the fender (while I had it off). Removing the fender did add to the work but I also think it made things easier (when bolting it on with the 5 fasteners). It could be done without removing the fender. I was in no rush and super cautious and took my time.

I'm definitely happy with the outcome. Well worth the $180.
I can hear the intake when the windows are down, not bad, just noticeable.
 
I've definitely been dragging my feet on this project. Thanks Gerdo, for the pictures. This weekend is an OME install then I may get the nerve to tackle this.
 
How did you guys mange to slip the other end ( of the rubber boot) onto the snorkel? I battled for and hour and can't get enough onto the snorkel, more less the actual clamp around it to secure it.

Brute force, wd40, and a tiny screwdriver. It took me the a while to get that part on as well. I think i put the boot on the air box first. and them to the snorkel itself.

Thanks, I managed to get the airbox side on fine it's just trying to get it on the snorkel and clamp that's a pain in the ass. There's not a lot of room to work in the upper fender.
 
My fix was that I had to back off some of the rubber elbow from my airbow. This allowed me enough room to slip the boot over the snorkel. All is well, I might just us some silicone around the clamped areas.

Hey Gerdo! Did you get the one for a 167 series hilux? I can't seem to find a tiger snorkel. Also, if you'd be willing, I think I may be fairly close to you, and could definitely use an experienced hand on this project.

The hilux snorkel fits on our 3rd gen?

Can anyone take a pic of upclose ? close to the fender and windshield to see how it sits.

I like snorkle. To me it's a safety feature. Incase you.go over big pudle or incase you off road and go through big puddle.

A girl once drove through a big puddle on a bad rainy day and hydro locker her scion.
 
Does the hilux snorkel fit on our American 4runner ?

Reason I'm asking because it seems to be made for left hand drive.
