Lead on a used supercharger With URD 7th injector for $2000

What is your thoughts?
Used 2nd gen supercharger with URD 7th injector minus the ignition control box.
4month old dynamic tensioner and bolts.
2.2 URD supergrip pully.

If something is wrong with it are replacement parts less than what I can just buy a new one?
Should I have any reservations on used or should I just buy a new one?
I am mechanically inclined and have access to a shop with a press if bearings need to be replaced.

What else do I need to ask the owner/seller?
How do I check for rotor noise as I am not close to the seller?

Check to see how many miles are on the charger itself and if it has ever been rebuilt because that will be another $500 if it needs that. And I would also factor in a few extra $100 to get the injector controller from URD. For perspective a brand new unit from lce engineering with all the URD goodies will be around $3900

The Owner says the pully has no slop in it and is "tight as hell". I don't know if this is a good thing. He did say it was recently rebuilt but he has now idea of the total miles on it as it was installed by a PO.

Pretty decent price for a black top in my opinion. You're missing more than just the control module box from URD it looks like.

If you're mechanically inclined - get it.

Read the threads and do some research to know what you're getting yourself into. The supercharger REALLY makes 3rd gen 4Runner go. Smaller pulley + injector and tune.... it's a whole different animal. :ak472:

You don't want ANY play in the pulley or shaft. It's supposed to be firm as a rock, yet able to spin freely.

Rebuilds last for 100k miles or so... just change the oil until you HEAR it needing attention.

Discounts off retail for new one

Do any of the retailers ever offer a discount on the new units?
I don't mind waiting if they do. I think if the deal was just a bit sweeter I would be all in. But at 2k I would almost think a new one would be a better option as I don't really need more than the stock supercharger will provide.

I have never seen a supercharger on sale, usually they are exempt from store-wide discounts and sales.

The controller will cost a little trying to obtain it outside of the kit, but not terrible. I'm currently piecing back together a $700 methanol injection kit but it did have the controller. I'm about $200 in missing parts but worth it in the end since it's not like these sort of things break, since I only paid $200 for the other parts.

If your goal is to get a supercharger with extra mods to increase fuel/boost, that's a good deal. If you're just trying to get a stock charger, then just buy it new.

I too am waiting for a sale on the new units. I'm hoping for something on black Friday. If it doesn't happen, I'm going to purchase one anyway and pay full price. I saved up my money, and now its burning a hole in my pocket.
