Leak while I fill up and then stops

Hi all,

Looked on the forum but couldn’t see the exact same issue. I fill up the gas tank and there is a leak at the differential. Once I stop, the leak stops. And when I park the vehicle I don’t see any leaks. Any thoughts on why this is?

Sounds like a hole in the filler neck or vent tube. Could be the metal fill pipe rusted out or the hose has a hole/tear in it. I would remove the filler neck protector cover in the left rear wheel well and inspect while filling with gas.

Shouldn't be too bad...there is also a place where the neck attaches to the gas tank...that connection might be loose. it can be accessed from underneatht he car

Had the same issue on my old rusty '98. I figured it was a hole in the filler neck but found one of the vent tubes was disconnected on the top of the tank. Feel around up there and see if you have the same issue. I don't have a picture and it was a PITA to get back on but it should be a rubber hose connected to a metal tube that runs up to the filler neck.
