Leaking fuel filter question

I am replacing my fuel filter on my 2000......... easy right? Got the new filter and it cant seem to be a more easy job to do. I cannot get this thing to seal. It leaks from both sides. No copper gaskets required, 2 swage fittings. What the hell is going on? To tight? I have taken it off 5 times and it leaks bad every time. Any ideas?

They are like brake fittings, make sure you line up the fittings properly and keep the two ends pressed together while you tighten.

How hard did you tighten them? They should only be hand tightened. If you crank the wrench and overtighten them, you could damage the fitting permanently.

Can you inspect the compression fitting for cracks?

Hand tighten?? Umm, I say crank them down good!

Not with these type of fittings. I've learned the hard way after some brake line "incidents."

Another point to mention is: if it's loose, it will seep...in which case you can always tighten more. If it's splurging out like a water hose then you probably have a crack somewhere.

Make sure you attach the hoses to the filter BEFORE mounting it to the body.
