thinking about leavin cali for multiple reasons... and im trying to use as many resources as possible. my current job is making it even easier! just wanted to get some info on possibly a better chance at living (definately somewhere where i can hit some trails from time to time) thanks! :cheers:

how bout the pacific northwest? between washington, oregon, and idaho, we got a little of everything up here. rocks, mud, sand, scenic offroad trails up in the mountains, and of course...snow wheeling!!! not to mention good fishing, camping and hunting. and don't believe the hype when they say it rains all the time.

if i ever decided to leave washington, i'd head for colorado too. though i think i like salmon fishing in our rivers to much to pack up and leave just yet.:fishing:

its funny that ya'll mention those states.. cuz thats exactly what im looking for! lol definately being an outdoorsman takes a big toll on things... thanks for the advice!

It's actually really good. Our season just opened on the 1st but the river won't heat up for a couple of weeks. Most of the fish are still out in the Puget Sound. We get coho(silver), Chinook(king) and humpy(pink) salmon all the time. Me and my son put 84 in the freezer last time the pinks ran.

If you're a conservative, then TEXAS! Relatively strong economy. No income tax, but high property tax. Hot.

Texas is great, I lived there since I was born. About 19 yeas though I don't count the first 5 of those cuz I was itty bitty. But it's a great place. If you live up by Austin it ain't so bad weather wise, but San Antonio has some great places to wheel.

My wife and I want to move to Utah, great snow skiing. The trails look good too. I dont really wheel here in Georgia, not into the mud bogging thing and I dont yet know of any good trails near me.

If I didn't need to be in proximity to a major hub, I probably would have given Washington or South Dakota more consideration. I really like Texas as well but wasn't enough of the changes we were looking for. Here are some things we considered...

Demographics
School Performance
Location (Living area in relation to the closest major city and airport)
Conservatism and Gun Laws (CO generally failed in this department for now)

these are all definately the same things we are taking into consideration before our move.. cost of living, climate, and location being at the top of our list. were trying to get away from overpopulated ares. but nowhere too dead. definately somewhere where we can be sitting on a decent size peice of land.

I grew up/live in Colorado and love it. I go to school in northern Utah and Utah is pretty nice too. Montana is also really pretty, and parts of Wyoming. I prefer high elevations where it doesn't get hot in the summer, no people live, and there is no humidity; so that narrows it down a bit. Only downside of Colorado is no ocean to play at, though its an acceptable trade off.

My folks moved from CA after 16 years to CO and haven't thought twice about it. Most of the North West US west of Denver is gorgeous. Alaska is cool too, though I wouldn't live there, just visit. Good luck on the move!

yeah alot of people from here were telling me that they would miss the beach/ocean too.. but honestly i rarely go there anyways. colorado has always had my interest being thats its mostly cooler weather and its still some what close to cali in case i wanted to visit my family.
