I've lived most of my life in Texas and California. I'd not go back to California though I loved being there. Texas has an abundance of affordable houses and interesting places, but I'd not live there again as well. It is just too damn hot and climate change is only going to make it worse.
Lots of interesting characters, good folks, good music, and great food.
I love the Hill Country; Houston is one of the worst places on the planet.

We were never really that big on going to the beach either. If anything we would go a few times a year before/after peak season, so it wasn't too hot, just to walk the coastline a bit. I wondered if we would miss it, but don't think we will. Instead of going for a few scenic walks a year, we now take scenic walks every afternoon for 3-5 miles.

My wife and I are planning to move in 5-10 years. Hopefully sooner. It will be tough leaving Cali though, having been born and raised here. I can be at the beach in 30 minutes, the desert or mountains in 90. Great camping, fishing, and especially off-roading. I will miss the Sierras dearly! But LA just isn't the same place anymore and hasn't been in quite awhile. Too many a-hole ppl, too many cars, too friggin expensive! My house has tripled in value over the last 20 years so its time to cash out. Where to go??? Considering Oregon and Utah since I have family there and they're always so hospitable when we visit. I like Washington too. My wifes bank has openings in Wash. or Texas... But I like mountains and cool weather so Texas is out. Just gotta do some research on income and property taxes.

CO has some of the most open and gun friendly laws in the country right now. Sure there is discussion of introducing some limitations but it isn't California. The idea that anyone would strike out CO because of its gun laws is ridiculous. You can do practically anything you want in CO gunwise compared to most other states.

[x] Concealed Carry in Vehicle
[x] Concealed Carry in Public (yes its a "shall issue" state; permits issued with little hassle ... compare to California)
[x] Open Carry
[NO] State Assault Weapons Restrictions (exception for Denver .. no idea why)
Yes there appears to be a stupid restriction on rifle magazines limiting them to 15 rounds effective Jan 15th 2013 but otherwise you all have it pretty good.

A. I didn't strike out CO nor did I tell anyone to do so. My list was of considerations, not deal breakers.
2. I actually moved here. :yo:
iii. Mag restrictions are not as acceptable to some as they are others. The fact that I had to stock up on certain items and move up my move date to accommodate arbitrary restrictions is cause for mention. Also, Denver has even tighter restrictions on mags making my choices for CWP limited if I happen to pass through.
D. If the libs can get these laws passed, more will likely follow.
5. Open carry, while I wouldn't do it unless in the woods maybe, is restricted in some areas and not statewide.
I would never live in a state without CWP, castle doctrine, and likely without stand your ground, so those aren't really up for debate per se, to me at least. I know CO isn't CA (yet, anyway... I know how I'll vote though).

Lets not forget about Alaska. I enjoyed my summer there. Almost complete freedom with firearms. Nobody was scared or even gave 2 shits you had a gun. And then the hunting and fishing was great. Im not a salmon fan but fresh Alaskan salmon... Damn. That's good fish. It is an entire different lifestyle but that happen whenever you move towns even but I enjoyed every second of it there. Only reason i came back is i was doing concrete work and wasn't Gonna make enough for the off season.
shit, 15 rounds is better than 10! (CA) no point in owning an AR if your magazine is fixed lol
alaska sounds awesome to me... lol though i dont know how my family could handle it.
definately a big difference from cali. expecially being from the so cal high desert area. i do have few friends from alaska who tell me its great...

Yeah huge difference. I live 1/2 mile from the beach and it is 70 F all year round here.

I can tell ya dont bother packin shorts if your going. Everything is either green or white year round haha
