led bar mount?

hey guys..

got my taxes done and i was thinking of putting an led bar on the roof.. my question is though.. if i go for the in channel mounts, would i have to drill into the car? also, I was thinking about getting an 42 in bar for it..

for the wiring though, how did everyone do it? thru the cab itself? run it down the a pillar?

for the led bar, i wanted to get an rigid but for an 42 in size.. is like $2k.. I was looking at amazon and eBay.. some of them can be had for less than $100..

has anyone ran eBay or amazon bars? how you like it? what's the output like?

and last but not least.. can i get some pics of it mounted on your rigs?

You are most likely going to have to drill regardless of the mounts you get, I have the slag factory mounts and like them, nice and solid and easy to install.

I have this bar and it's held up well for over a year now, no complaints, output is decent, I'm sure a proper bar like rigid or baja designs would be leaps and bounds better, but I'd never spend that much on an LED bar.

And I just ran my wire down the window pillar on the outside, probably not the way most people would go, but it doesn't look out of place, and it keeps the seals nice and tight and no extra work was required.

I used the channel mounts that are being sold on here by another member and I purchased my bar on Amazon for 160.00 I am very happy with both. The light output is amazing and rivals my friends bar which was about 800 bucks. You will have to drill because of the weight of the bar I don't see any way to safely secure it if you don't have a roof rack. My 42" curved bar sits nicely above my windshield and I have the wires running down the a pillar in between the 2 weather strips. I don't have pics of the wiring right now but here's the bar and mounts. Pm me if you want the exact model I have I'll send you the invoice.

I have the same setup as tucson, spent alittle under $200 for the whole setup,
also ran my wires like tucson.

Did any of you guys end up with wind noises at high speed or water leaks since the wiring and brackets are going in between weatherstrips?

LED bars are awesome can't wait install one!

Yes wind noise. I actually complained about it on another thread and got some good ideas to correct it. No water damage yet but I haven't tested it. When I drilled the holes for the bracket I put some silicon down to help keep the water out. Then I reglued the weather stripping down so I don't think I'll have any problems.
