LED cluster swap

Newer guy here. I picked up a 99 limited back in Nov, but needed more power out here in CO. Picked myself up a very clean 05 v8 SR5 Saturday. First order of business was to swap the LEDs in the cluster!

I did this for my 05 tacoma and did it all the time for others (see my thread on tacomaworld here). If anyone is interested in getting their LEDs swapped out, hit me up. As you can see, I have plenty of experience w/ the tacomas and the 4runner boards are just the same.

Just a couple of quick questions: How come you opted to not swap out your HVAC control panel with LED's as well? Also, how much do you charge for the LED swap? You've got some pretty stiff competition in this forum from a couple of others that provide the same service.

welcome to the 4th gen section!

I'm guessing he hasn't gotten around to it. He's been swapping LEDs for years over at Tacomaworld. He did my LEDs on my NAV, definitely knows what he is doing, has done a TON of cool mods ........................ :hail:

Others who offer their services also do a very fine job (Alex!!).

Looking good Josh!

Would you mind providing the numbers of bulbs needed for the cluster? What type of LED were you using?

Just getting into the 4runner clusters, so still unsure on the different amounts of LEDs required for all years and configs (SR5, sport, urban, limited, etc)

i do know for my 05 SR5 v8, i needed 13 for the background lights/needles/odo and one each for every other light.

i used the PLCC-2 LEDs from oznium. link for those is in my tacomaworld post. i will make a thread here when i gather more info on the 4th gens.

1) HVAC is in the works. just picked up the truck Saturday and had some extra LEDs laying around, so tackled the cluster first.

2) $50 labor. you provide the LEDs and a prepaid return label. LEDs are almost always swapped the day i get the cluster and in the mail the very next morning. (i do work in the oil industry, so every once in a while i may be in the field on a job for several days.)

3) im not worred about competition. this is just something that i do on the side if i can help people out. it was my favorite mod on my 05 tacoma so i figured i would help others get the same enjoyment! my quality of work and equipement, turn around times and customers speak for themselves. i have fixed several clusters that were swapped from the "other guys" on several forums.

any other questions, let me know!

I apologize if I came off gruff. $50.00 is actually a fantastic price and your turnaround is phenomenal. You really should post an add in the T4R.org classifieds explaining as much, and listing what bulbs are required for each gen, etc. I think you'll get a flood of work (not that that's what you're looking for).

no worries dude, you're good, thanks for the kind words.

i will be making a post when i figure out the difference in clusters. i did a limited before and it was very different than my SR5 as far as number of bulbs go.

i do not mind being flooded with work, every penny i make doing this will go directly back into the truck. my own personal conviction is that no job money goes into the truck, only money i make from flipping stuff or doing mods for others...and i want a lift, tires, bumpers and engine mods...so bring on the work!!

not with confidence at the moment...im working on it. I would imagine that since you are a v6, your cluster would be exactly the same as the tacoma ones i have done in the past. that said, see my link in my sig for initial guess numbers.

post a picture of your cluster for me if you dont mind, this would help me out to see if they are likely the same.

Uh oh! Spaghettios!

Someone's musclin' on emelianenkov's turf! :police:

j/k I'm sure he doesn't mind; good to see more people who can assist/ people doing LED conversions. :)

I've been swapping gauges long before that dude, just started on 4runners since I now have one. Again, my quality of work, price and customer feedback speaks for itself!

I was just busting your chops. :p

Like I said, its always good to have more people who can help others out on the forum in some respect. :)

Yeah I hardly get the free time to do clusters anymore. I've been busy doing work for a few ford customers and such, which is a new challenge for me to keep me occupied.

My price was more, but at $200 a swap, I did over 100 of them. I can't complain about bringing in that much for an inexperienced high school kid who liked tinkering with things.

I've kinda retired from swaps, save for a few. CookieRoe has been a wonderful repeat customer, and has kept my work interesting for sure!

Good luck, OP! Great work my man
