LED Dome Light *pics*

Alright. I really need to go check it out sometime.

Gotta save up some money and buy all these LEDs. Get's kinda expensive after a while.

Haha yeah I just picked up 2 for the map lights and then 4 for random stuff around the interior. I've been dropping bills all week :D

Try $180 for headlights, ~$160 for tint, then LEDs for the AC, key ring, map lights, visor, and tail lights. Ouch. :bash:

Damn, I feel ya. In the past week I've picked up LED's for the dome light/map light/key ring/glove box/shifter/ashtray, custom 3rd brake light, Vortex muffler, factory roof rack, T4R sticker...

Need to take a few weeks off, let the wallet rest. Plus my bday is coming up so I'm gonna mooch what I can there.:D

Ahh, your looking good right now. What are you thinking about getting for your birthday?

Vortex just arrived today, taking it to get installed now :D :D

For my birthday I'm thinking about asking for the 20% tint for my front windows and clear corners/bumpers. My family doesn't really go "big" for birthdays because our Christmas' are usually the big gift holidays. So I'd be happy with tint and clear corners/bumpers.

I was originally thinking about asking for these smoked LED tails:

but I'm not sure if I want them more than I do the tint/clears. And I can only reasonably ask for one or the other. Either the LED tails or the tint and clears.

P.S. Did you ever figure out how to get to your map lights?

In the past week I have spend over $100 on new LEDs (I already had a full LED interior) and about $1200 on tires. I win :)

Don't even get me started on tint. I think my running total right now is somewhere near $1400.

Yikes, you win. I just totaled up my purchases over the past week and it came out to ~$250, and I thought that was bad. But I'm a broke college student w/o a job, so $250 is bank-breaker!

I am 20 y/o and in College as well.

Yeah, you got me HB. I bet you have a job though. I'm just in high school and working about 10 hours a week.

David- Go with the tint and clears for sure. It will make a bigger difference than the LED tails.

I went out and got the map lights and visor lights out. The maps are definitely B9s, but I'm not sure what the visor one is. It looks very strange. Cylinder shape with metal ends.

I'm definitely going to put LEDs in those spots I just can't figure out which bulb is the right one for the map lights.

This is what my visor mirrors have. It sounds the same as what you described. I ordered the white ones but I can only find blue on their site now.

Here's the link anyways:

Your good man.

That appears to be it. There wouldn't be a difference in length would there?

I'm going to email them soon and inquire about a lot of different bulbs and see what they can do for me.

I'm going to try and stick to white or cool white bulbs.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend blue in the mirror lights. :D

The lengths should be all the same I would think. They were actually slightly longer than the stock ones that came out, so I had to press pretty hard to wedge it in there.

I'm on my Blackberry now but when I get back to my computer I'll give you the link for the bulbs I ordered for my map lights. I just went on V-LEDs website and searched for BA9. I can post the link a little later if you still haven't found them.

EDIT: Here are the BA9 bulbs I ordered for my map lights:

hey how are the bule dome lights is it annoying. i really want all blue. dash leds, dome leds, and hvac leds but i really want to know about the dome ones

Ok, so I got some pics of my LED dome and map lights. First, here are pics of the dome LED light module by TaskLED, both on and off in the cargo area of my

Wow man. That's awesome. I also thought about putting a LED pad into my map lights, but haven't found one small enough yet.

Do you have pictures of the dome light. Maybe we could compare it to the one from Oznium.

Dome light is the same as in the first two pics of the cargo area light.

Trust me, the TaskLED dome light modules are brighter! The Luxeon Rebel 100 LEDs used in those are rated in Lumens (100 Lumens at that), not millicandela like these other LEDs. In order to even come close to the brightness of the current TaskLED module, you would need to have MORE than the 48 LEDs in an array like I have in my maplight. The other 25 LED array I have is actually 2 LED dice per unit, so it's more like 50 LEDs, and it still isn't as bright as the TaskLED module.

If I had to guess, you would need about 150 of these "super bright" LEDs (yes, that is 3 of these arrays) to compare with the current single Luxeon Rebel 100 LED used in the TaskLED module (maybe about 75 to compare with my older LED dome). You would be surprised just how bright high-powered LEDs have recently gotten.

Here's a datasheet for the Luxeon Rebels if you care to look. Also, here's the website.

If someone wanted to put one of the dome light modules into the maplight, it could be done pretty easily. The new board using the Rebel LED measures a scant 1" x 0.5". All you would need to do would be to get the wires from the bulb socket to the board. Wouldn't be that hard to hard-wire it into the back of the map light housing, but you could also just break the Ba9s bulb and solder the wires to the bulb base.

PS - I'm so confident that the TaskLED dome light module will be brighter (than even the Oznium one) that if someone on here wants to buy one and review/compare it, and is NOT happy with it, I'll buy it from them for what they paid. How's that for confidence (and no risk). And no, I'm not the taskLED guy either. ;):
