LED front turn signals?

I just recently bought a a 95 4Runner and not a big fan of amber lights, i haven't ordered the clear front turn signals lenses yet. But I was wondering if I put led lights in instead of regular bulbs. Would I have to do a conversion kit for them? Or just buy one of the led bulbs that plug into the existing socket?

You can get the replacement LED bulbs that plug right in, but then they will flash very fast because they don't place enough of load on the flasher module.
So then you go buy load resistors to add in so they draw more current and flash properly.

Howdy!
You just need replacement LED light for the bulb number for stock bulb.
Would probably flash rapidly, too.
Buying a load resistor is counter-productive because two of the reasons for buying LED are:
1)To minimize current draw, meaning less load on alternator, meaning less mechanical resistance to belt/pulley, which leads to increased efficiency, AND
2) To save on cost of replacement bulbs because LED's last much longer.

Adding load resistors means (1) Putting load back on the system, and (2) spending more money on the load resistor,

The better approach, because I believe in converting to LED's would be to find a replacement flasher that would work with LED's low current draw. Most likely this will be an electronic flasher whose flash frequency does not depend on current draw.

Not sure if all 1st gen 4runners have this blinker but modifying it is really simple and free.

I run LEDs in the front and worked for me.

Did you do mod below from that link? If so, and first-gen has similar flasher, then YES, that is a good fix without buying a new flasher or load resistors.

Don't know if later first gen 4runners have the same flasher. Mine is an 85 and had it.
