LED Interior Light Kit for 2015 4Runner

:flame: :flame: :flame: Hi guys. I'm donning my asbestos underwear because I'm sure you'll tell me to search. But I have searched and still can't find a good answer. :flame: :flame: :flame:

I've been reading all the threads on LED interior light upgrades for the 4runner, and I agree the stock lights are very dim and make it difficult when I'm in a remote area to find things in the black interior of my 2015 Trail.

But despite reading through all the threads, there doesn't seem to be a "best" LED package. It's all kind of Ebay sellers and individual part numbers. I don't have a background in lighting or color temperatures, and it doesn't seem like there is any vendor marketing a package for the 2014/15 4Runner.

So am I missing something? Can someone steer me in the right direction? Is the a good cost effective solution I can just order online and have confidence it will be reliable and the appropriate specs for my trail. Or do I really need to educate myself on LED's and order all the discrete components?

Thanks guys. Is there an easy way to differentiate between a poor quality, unreliable LED and one that will be robust in a dusty, vibration prone environment?

How do i know I'm buying a good quality product?

Get bulb guide from Sylvania's web site but buy from DDMTuning.com if you want to save money. Superbrightleds.com is good and fast but way expancive. GL

Lot's and lot's of people (including me), have used that yitamotor ebay kit and I have never heard of any problems (except a little difficulty in fitting the center overheard LED). It's $20 for all those bulbs, what do you have to lose? LED production is not high-tech these days, so all of the LED's on the market are likely made in some factory in Asia. Even with the cheap $20 set, the bulbs will last for years (even in dusty/vibration prone environments).

No problem, I struggled with the same decision. I also bought these tools which made the install a little easier. http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Portable-Radio-Removal-Installer/dp/B00HNMLQAG Plus, I have used them for some other car/home related projects.

I work with interior and exterior lighting for a publicly held electric utility. LED in our vehicles are not likely to succumb to much dust as I think all lamp locations are behind lens/covers. Heat is what kills LED drivers. So the question might be, if you reduce an advertised lamp life of 75000 hours to 20000 hours, how do those hours correlate to your vehicle use? Especially at $20 for a kit?

Yes, there are quality differences though.

I did the exact same thing. Very easy to install. I like the color and output of the LEDs, looks factory.

I used VLEDS and I love them. I sourced each light and bought some additional lights for other mods I'm doing. Best part is these led's are BRIGHT!!! Anyone buy a brighter LED backup/reverse bulb? I want something that will be brighter than what is on there now.

Do not buy from Superbrightleds.com, you will pay a lot more for the same chinese product. I ordered from them twice and was very dissappointed, stock bulbs were brighter. Oh well I learned the hard way.

just ordered a set last week and installed last night. Bright, clean white light. replacing the bluish set that had begun flickering(and already lost a bulb in the last few months.)
