LED lighting

I couldnt find these at the time, and I got 50 for 7$ with 4$ shipping and it included resistors

this is what I used for my lighting,

Didn't use those, there's no need to solder the bulbs, what year is your 4Runner? Here's what I used, just pulled the old bulb out and put the new one in...

The creator of that thread has a 98 and he did a complete LED conversion on the inside, along with several other users from thread with a 98.

Here's what a 98 uses:
-3 #194 for the gauges
-2 #74 for the climate control
-1 #74 for the shifter
-1 #74 for the ignition key ring
-1 #74 for the ash tray
-1 Neo-wedge for the A/C
-2 Neo-wedge for the rear defroster
 
Im sure it does, you will ahve to take off the dash and remove the actual board and display and replace it.


The reason I say it fits, is because it doesn't sound like Toyota to make separate clocks for basically the same vehicle.
 
i have a '97 and the area where it displays the heater/ ac controls have burned out (the LED lights) when i turn on the headlights at night so i cant see the heater/ac settings when driving on the road at night. i do i actually get to the bulbs and replace it? it looks hard to do.

very easy, pop off all the knobs and pry the front panel off, then you will see the bulbs behind it
 
ok i just got in my 3 74 tri power blue lights in. i figured id put in the one in the shifter. the bulb was WAAAYYYY to loose but i managed to somehow get it into place. i have a hotspot on the P as it dosent even light up. Is it possible i got shipped 3 of the wrong size bulbs? The factory size bulb base looked to be twice the size of the one i got in. for what its worth on the shipping box adress there is a 3/24 to the far left of my name.

i got the bulbs thru autolumination
 
I've been less than thrilled with autolumination... :bash:

They probably shipped you the wrong LED bulbs. I'm guessing they sent you 3 of the #24 bulbs. I suppose the 3/24 could have also been an order or ship date though.

They not only shipped me the wrong bulb(s), but they only shipped 1 instead of 2. Less than stellar customer service after that too. :mad:

Also, as a warning to anyone ordering from them - if you need to return anything, they charge a 20% restocking fee!!! They'll waive this ONLY if you exchange items instead, but then they want you to order your replacements first, then return the original items! Bad policy IMHO... :chair:
 
yea i didn't think about 3/24 being the ship date..


anyway hopefully what they shipped me will work good enough to swap over my ashtray light and keyhole ring.

here is an image of the shifter, dosent look to bad at night.

So are you saying the bulb is loose when you plug it into the socket or the bulb is loose when you try to put it up in the shifter. Mine is loose because the LED bulb is about twice the size as the regular 74 bulb, I used the tri-pod 74. But it's very tight in the socket, it's not coming out.

The "R" doesn't show up on mine, which LED bulb did you use?

74 tri-pod blue. The bulb does not fit into place of the socket like the normal bulb did. It turns on but if i was to put the socket upside down, the bulb would fall out. I was able to get the bulb back into the shifter though. I'm just worried about overtime and jerky/off-road driving that it will shake loose out of the socket and get broke in the shifter.
 
That's weird, we are using the same LED's but yours is loose and mine isan't, and yours is way brighter than mine... strange...
 
i think fly fisher may have been right when he said i received the wrong size bulbs? or maybe my '01 lights are different then your '02? but my thinking would be ours would be the same more then people with the older year models
 
Okay, so I ordered from Autoillumination on March 11th and finally received them yesterday afternoon!

Time to get these babies installed :)
