LED rear blinker help...

so i finally got around doing this project.

fairly easy, however, i have a problem with the driver's rear.

using a Vled for the rear turn signals.

passenger side is hooked up, working fine.

I am using one 6ohm 50 watt load resistor for each side.

however, the driver's side does not light up. i pulled the led out and did an 180, to make sure polarity was not the issue, still not lighting up.

i used another load resistor, so it's not a faulty load resistor unless both are shot.

i switched sockets with passenger, passenger side works, while driver's side does not.

i hardwired bulb to battery using two leads, lights up bright red.

i don't know any other things i can do to solve this...

help!

Well i will say Kudos to you. What year is your truck? You must have found the wiring diagram for your truck to be able to put LED turn signals in the rear. Double check the wiring, make sure its making good contact with the factory harness. Im guessin your truck has DTRL. If not why didnt you just go with the relay?.. Im actually doing this on mine but im an 06 so im using the relay. Just waiting for my supplier to get me the high power LEDs for the rear. Did the fronts and relay already.

Hmmm, i've been debating doing this soon and was hoping it would be as simple as finding the right wire, tap it and throwing on a resistor. I'd be very curious to hear the actual problem/solution as well.

Are you using the same high power LEDs for the rear as you did in the front? I'm guessing you're sticking with amber back there as well?

You should post up some shots of it once you get everything finished. I'm sure you would have lots of interest.

You should take out the whole tail light out, inspect the hole of the signal light area, see if you find some bad contacts that are warn or corroded, also put on the hazzard switch so you can see if all the bulbs light up. Reinstall the tailight bulb socket too so make sure its making contact, i wonder why you use resistor and not change out the flasher relay? Take a volt meter and try to get a reading without the bulb in on thr signal light.

what's the flasher relay route?

it works fine with the filament bulb. (that's how it is now. led on passenger and filament on driver's signal.)

it should work... i just don't know why it's not.

the led's are a simple remove and replace bulb.

dtrl are disabled.

check the contact on the led bulb and the actual 7440 socket, make sure its making contact, maybe you need to check the wire on the led bulb base of the 7440.

Yes. Always high power everything. Amber yes as well...i have them on .my phone relay location n all... Just waiting for the rears to come in from my supplier...
