Left front brown fluid leak

Hey guys. There is a very very tiny amount of brown fluid leaking from the left front side near the tire. Just noticed it a few days ago. Anyone have the same leak or know what it is? Thanks.

May be break fluid. how near the tire? have any pics? I'd check your brake lines for any leaks first.

Next time you see it, look right above an identify the highest wet spot. Could be oil coming from the valve covers above, power steering fluid from the rack somewhere, or brake fluid from a leaking caliper or brake line/fitting.

I'd second wheel bearing or cv boot split open and leaking.

Engine oil is brown and can leak out from an improperly seated oil filter. Ask me how I know...
You should make an effort to identify the fluid.

Take a look on lower control arm,and other suspension parts in that area if it's a torn or cracked cv boot it will sling the grease as you drive so will get all over parts in the area of cv joint,also take a good look at boot,if you can jack up your trk and spin axle while looking at boot , sounds like cv boot is cracked.

Last I checked, CV joints and wheel bearings do not contain fluids.

I think the consensus is that when the rack is leaking, it needs to be replaced. Are you sure it's the rack? My boot was wet but it was the VC above. How often do you put PS fluid in?

Steering racks leak because they have synthetic rubber seals that get hard and crack and wear out over time. There's nothing you can do about it.
Most folks consider replacing the steering rack with a rebuilt or new unit at least once in it's life span to be routine maintenance on these trucks.
Some heavy off-highway drivers go through several racks in the lifetime of the vehicle.

Because it is OLD and tired or the replacement was improperly installed. Not a lot of possible answers to that question.

Could be the oil cooler on the side of the engine.. Mine was leaking like crazy and I had to replace the o-rings.

Im sorry everyone I know this reply is way late but the rubber boot was leaking, simple fix. Just as an extra precaution and because I was under the truck I bled the lines and put some new fluid in. Im very new to this website and will plan on being more active now. Thanks for understanding.
