Left side leaning on T4R 2011 Limited no X-Reas

Hi,

One year ago I acquired the truck described in the title of the thread. About 6 months ago I noticed an imbalance or leaning to the left. With this also wheel an irregular front wheel "de-alignment" pattern. With this, I mean that after each alignment, with no more than 100 kms, it will again "de-align" and to the left. Another thing I noticed is that when braking at low speeds (10-20 km) the trucks pulls to the left.

During this period, I had the truck checked by the dealership two times. They insist it is normal, but this for me does not make any sense other than poor technical knowledge or willing to diagnose correctly. I will look for another shop this time.

So definitely something is wrong in the left side. Now my question is, what can it be? I am inclined to think it is the springs, but would like to read other possible causes and diagnosis that a common driver without the proper training and tools can make to explain myself correctly during my next visit, this time to a different shop, for this problem. Also, what are potential problems that can arise from this, other than esthetic?

The truck has almost 52,000 miles. Never taken, at least during my possession, to heavy offroad.

You talk about left lean and alignment pulling left in fist paragraph. Do you mean that your vehicle does not sit level but leans to the left or does it pull to the left while driving or both?

I understand now that the picture is included. Looks like the garage surface slopes left? Measure each side from the fender to the center of the wheel and then find a level spot and repeat. My garage has enough of a slope to cuase a slight lean.

A left pull while braking can mean a glazed rotor.

Before getting another alignment try rotating the tires.

I get that much lean at times, load and gas tank level tend to determine how much. Gas tank is on the driver side, measure with a full tank then measure near empty to see if that contributes. Somewhere in one of the Trail/KDSS lean threads they say if it's less than an inch it's in spec. I believe.

If it's pulling left while driving that would be a different issue I would speculate

Hi, yes I agree the surface is not even, however, I have done the test in different places, in my home and work garage and same thing, just that for those I don't have a pic. I notice it also with 3/4 of a tank. I have pending an almost empty tank to make the test. Will update the measurments from the fender to wheel shortly.

Worst case scenario, do you think it could be a worn coil? If that is the case I will not opt for the workaround of using a spacer, I would have both coils replaced. The question is, would it be better to replace all 4? Would a coil spring measurement make the trick?

Search "drivers side lean" and you'll see that you dealer isn't lying to you.

I want to add, if you are getting it aligned as often as you state, I would want to see the before and after specs of the alignment. Also, does it only pull left when braking?

mine leans to the left, I had to add a 1/4" spacer to driver. 3/8 would have been better in my case. Stock Limited coils has an extra coil/wound on driver to offset lean.

Yes, only to the left. Same after initial acceleration.

My 2014 Limited does the same thing. I went to get it aligned last week and asked them to see if they could figure out why it was leaning on the driver's side. A few hours later, they called and told me that they wouldn't perform the alignment, due to the fact that the driver's side spring had 6 coils and the passenger side had 9 coils (front end). Is it normal to have two different sized springs in the front?

Get coilovers like me and crank the left side an additional 2-3 turns. Gets it within 1/3" :biggrin2:

Did you replace the suspension? Regardless I find it very difficult to believe you could have that much difference in front coils and not have major issues. If its a stock suspension, run to another shop.

Otherwise drivers side lean is normal depending on how much.
