Legal trails Orange/Dutchess/Ulster NY

Looking for good off-road trails in Orange/Dutchess/Ulster Counties in NY. Want to play in the mud and use it for what it's for; just too old to be worrying about the law.

A good tool I've found to find accessible trails that aren't in public parks and forests (you can find those trails on their respective websites) is a county parcel viewer. You load the map and look for very large plots that are wooded or mountainous then check the land owner name. A lot of those large plots are owned by logging companies. Some post their land, some don't. When you find a prospective plot you just have to eyeball the property and check for posted signs. Some large plots aren't owned by logging companies and are also not posted but those are more rare, at least in PA.

Use those maps in correspondence with google maps with satellite view and you can sometimes see if there are trails crisscrossing large wooded plots.
