Well thanks in part to a push from this thread I found a sweet deal on a AV receiver to a start a clean and minimal 2.1 system. Buying this Marantz NR1403 for $200 perfect condition, go craigslist! Barebones enough but with hdmi switching and bluetooth ability, seems perfect.

Now to find some sexy bookshelf speakers, thinking about these..

Well I did a soft install on this new rig. I think the speakers may be a little close together for their size, but I like the look even though I'm not used to the space they take up.

Marantz NR1403 to Polk TSI200's and a PSW110 sub. It does absolutely slam though and what I really like is that I've noticed as the sound is so much cleaner you can listen louder and still have conversation. It's no longer background noise, it's clear as hell.

I'm still not 100% and the bookshelf speakers though due to size, maybe something these would be a compromise? Focal Super Bird (Black) Wall-mountable speakers at Crutchfield.com

I have four of the tsi speakers with the single woofer and single tweeter and they sound amazing! BTW, they are awful about dust.

I think it's time to replace my subwoofer. I currently have an M&K V-2B sub and have loved it. I've been out of the home audio loop for quite a while. You guys have any suggestions?

Not at all. It's an amazing sub. The woofer is just starting to go. I'm sure I could just replace it, but figure why not just get a new one?

Subwoofers like carry pieces, better to have it and not need it...

Current one is a 12" sub and I love the range it provides. I might actually look into seeing if I can get it fixed. I do like it.

Not sure if you know about Infinity Primus but they are pretty damn good for the price point of < $150 per front channel speaker.

The P163 6.5", normally $120 each, was on super sale at Fry's this week for $59 each.

It looks like Amazon just matched the price. I just ordered a set. They are no Klipsh $500 / speaker but these sound damn good.

I have the P363 Floor Speakers in my living room and those sound pretty good. These two will go in my office.

I just got this a couple months ago as a gift: Samsung HW-F450
Powered 2.1-channel home theater sound bar with wireless subwoofer and Bluetooth

It sounds excellent. Not to mention that it will also sync with your phone to play music. Highly recommended

Dang, why can't they have a 12" on sale?!

I bought the Klipsch 12" RW-12d (with copper cone!) on sale for $299 at Newegg.com last Thanksgiving.

It's worked out great. I think it was on sale because that was last year it was produced.

The newer version, Klipsch SW-112 is $599 at Crutchfield. I'm sure it sound great as well, maybe even a bit better but I doubt it is twice the price better!

For fun I have my old school SD setup for viewing my old VHS tapes and use the Sony DVD recorder so I can get the good stuff off of tape before it falls apart. Yes,that's a 2 gazillion lb 32' tube tv.


And outside I have a 15" flat tube so I can enjoy my sports while grilling.


And I finally got a pair of proper speaker stands for my front setup. Want to go bigger but after being aprehensive about small speakers I've got no regrets as the system rocks the room. I'd go bigger if I had a bigger room.

Well since I started this thread, I have upgraded a few things.

I no longer am running the harman kardon avr435 receiver. I jumped on an ebay Pioneer Elite VSX-53 for $320 with a 2 year warranty.
I have also replaced my fronts with a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 70IIs

My sunfire sub has developed the dreaded auto on sensing issue so until I decide if im going to repair or replace it, I have a dinky little Polk Audio PSW-10 handling the lows. Sadly it cant keep up with the rest of the system but at least it gives something.
