Let's play "what's that part"

The other day I noticed a grommet laying on the floor right by the brake/gas pedal. I have NO idea where it came from, how it got there, and when it got there. For all I know it might have just fallen there from something else not related to the truck at all.

Since we're playing guessing games tonight, can any of you tell me if you think this might be from under the dash somewhere? I did have the entire dash apart last year and don't really recall anything that looked like this, but of course I also don't have the best memory either.

FWIW, it's had no sticky tape adhesive so I don't think it worked it's way out of any factory wiring harnesses' tape. It does not seem to have been cut or abraded either, looks like it's molded to be in half like that.

The more I look at it the more I feel like it just fell out of something I was transporting in the cabin, but of course this will bug me to no end if I don't figure out a definitive answer...so please help!

Thanks!

I've completely torn apart my dash several times, most recently about 2 months ago to install OEM remote start. That part is not familiar.

I'm 100% sure that's the part that's making Joneseyyy's noise. :spy:

Well okay, I guess that explains everything then. He just needs to wait for his rubber grommet to fall out and the noise will go away!

It's definitely from the truck, I found the same part a couple of weeks ago laying on the floor in about the same location.

Glad I didn't throw it away. Thanks for the head up, now we just need to figure where the heck it belongs :sadwave:

I just went and had a nice long look under my wife's '13 SR5.

Couldn't find it - sorry.

Possibly this is a support piece in the seat that prevents it from going off track when reclining...

I found the exact same piece on the driver floor matt as well a few weeks ago, No idea where it came from, but it looks like it came from the 4Runner :s.

Not sure whether to be happy or sad that our trucks are falling apart at the same time, but at least we're not alone

I guess this sag shall continue...I'll be sure to update you guys if I figure anything out.

Thanks all for chiming in, have a safe and happy new years eve tonight fellas!

hahaha found the same thing on the drivers side floor 2 days ago. looks cut in half just like yours. I'm also curious to what it is. Hopefully not too important.

Niiice plasticy mystery parts, love it :)

I would have guessed the same as flyrv9, gromment or sleeve like something from the firewall.

From the park brake maybe?

Feels like the beginning of a Transformers movie.

Better keep a close eye on those parts.

I'm starting to wonder if it's just an extra piece from maybe a wire harness they forgot to snip off before installing, or if it actually worked its way out of some where.

I tried squeezing it shut and it doesn't seem like it really would work well as a grommet, unless they were trying to protect only half of the opening, which doesn't even really make sense.
