$1500 was a steal.

Slowing building my collection up with pawn shop and craiglist buys. Most of my drawers are empty but here is a picture of my favorite one.

What are yall's opinions on the Harbor Freight toolboxes?

HF 44" box here - only $350 or so with a coupon. Some of the hardware wasn't put together right when I got it and had to replace some washers I think. Apparently, the factory in China was handing out bonuses based on how quickly they can bang them together. After about two years, one of the drawers don't "snap" into closed position as well as it used to. If I don't deliberately push that drawing all the way in gently, it bounces off the back stop and slides back out because the box is slightly tilted forward due to my floor. Otherwise, it was cheap, the drawers lock, and it does the job. I got what I paid for. I just need to level it so the drawers will work better and stuff doesn't roll off the top.

Picked up a keeper off Craigslist. Nearly have it filled, just a few odds and ends missing.

I have a question for the rest of my Automotive guys... how many of you have a complete inventory on paper of what tools you have? generally done for insurance reasons and what not. the guy who works next to me in the shop has a 4 or 5 page list and pictures of all his drawers...

I have a working inventory of all tools above $5. Being in hurricane alley, I can't afford not to know what I have for insurance purposes. The aggregate replacement cost is so high (above $25k), that I need a separate rider just for them, the bicycles, fishing gear, etc.

When I worked two summers doing low voltage installations, some of my Klein hand tools grew legs. Only by marking them up beforehand was I able to get them back.

I won't lend tools out to anyone, not even family, if they are worth enough to me.

If you have used a Lathe before, I'm sure you already know this: Never operate the Lathe while wearing rings, a watch, or wearing loose clothing. Or if you have long hair that isn't secured up and out of the way.

Code passed to the disconnect. I was too exicted to get the right cord to the wall but. At least it is grounded. My back is recouping, that beast was 4,200 pounds.
