That's cool. Where did you get the matching carpet?

I'm from Canada - got it from a hardware store - Canadian Tire. You could probably find something at a hardware store as well that also sells automotive things.

Only thing is the carpet doesn't match but I don't mind that much as I have a cargo liner covering.

The one you can’t drive away from. I carry a handgun 99% of the time so that would take care of most situations that may arise. I go out into the woods camping quite a bit and if I come across a bear, my 9mm handgun is just not going to cut it.

That's semi-reasonable I suppose. Would imagine you'd still like to have the weapon more accessible than likely locked inside your car in that case though. A can of bear spray or a bigger pistol seems a lot easier and safer IMO.

It's a cool mod nonetheless, and probably safer than having it in a case stuffed somewhere.

I just think it's kind of silly too.

I camp out of the back of the 4R, so the shotgun is easily and rapidly accessible in that rack while I am sleeping. It exists not for self defense against humans, but against bears.

The rack is also a convenient way to carry a long gun up and out of the way, using dead space; and is easily accessed from outside either by opening the hatch or by lowering the glass a few inches.

The rack also keeps the gun hidden, since it is in the curvature of the roof and out of sight. Dirtbags, when peering in a vehicle, generally don't look up.

You can think it silly all day long, but it is the mod that most people who see my truck ask me about. I've probably sold 20 of those racks for Big Sky.
