That is an excellent idea for mic mounting. I was never pleased with the ways I had them in my other cars. The only change I would try to make with yours would be to have it a little more flush with some kind of brace to keep it from falling into the dash.

Some old jvc that came with the truck. I plan on replacing it with a Kenwood double din. 2 sundown audio SA-10s powered by a sundown 1500 with some sweet orange 0 gauge. I still need to paint or carpet the box. I also need some infinity or sundown component speakers. It's a solid system and plays anything I want. Sundowns are good on price and are awesome quality subs.

For a subwoofer I can't recommend this Pioneer enough:

Pioneer TS-SWX251 Compact sealed enclosure with one 10" shallow-mount sub at Crutchfield.com

I've been there done that with brain melting bass, but obviously every system needs a sub and this one packs a nice punch.

What's more, the down firing design/shallow and low profile of it make it hardly noticeable and you don't have to worry about throwing shit in the back damaging the sub.

ETA: They make these enclosures too if you want to add your own shallow mount sub.

Thanks! I was going to flush mount it but I did not want to cover any part of the mic and reduce the sensitivity.

Pioneer 2400bt

Couldn't be happier. customizable EQ, I have it paired with a Kenwood 12" sub in the cargo area and the stock speakers. Sounds great, easy to operate, DVD's, capability for rear view camera.

No all have amps. Just some are in different places. I hear some are under the driver seat. Most are behind the dash under the radio itself. My 00 limited had an amp as well as my 96. Sr5 under the dash.

Yes they need to be taken out when installing a aftermarket stereo. It's a simple 10 mm bolt and 2 plugs iirc.

I put this JVC unit in awhile back. I liked it cause I could match the color to the original interior of my rig. Not expensive - bought it at Wally World and it sounds better than the old one that was in the rig.

How did you go about changing the lights on your dash cluster? Did you just change the bulbs or did you tape up the inside for the light to shine through?
