Lets talk tests

So waiting on parts and time here is where Im at.
Had a set of injectors cleaned and just put them in today.
13miles and about an hour and a half of idle slow driving start/stop and the check engine light comes back on.
Misfire in all 6 cylinders
New code P0171 System too lean bank 1

The saga continues.
 
Cleared the codes and went for a drive. Pending codes of misfires.
Cleaned MAF again and the lean code went away. Not sure what is going on there.

Set up a fuel pressure test port and gave it a test at idle. Had 45 psi but noticed I had a small seepage of fuel from my shrader valve. I will work on it again tomorrow to fix the leak.

I need to get that fixed so I can drive it with the fuel pressure gauge on and test it.

Any other things I should be pointing my attention to ?

What are the long fuel trims looking like when warmed up?

Im still trying to figure that part out. Ill look and try to do it tomorrow.

If I remember and Im not sure about it but its positive with a big number. Kind of guessing on that until I can check tomorrow

This truck was originally purchased in CA.
The emissions and O2 sensor will be different than other trucks?

Usually CA emissions 4runners have an A/F sensor rather than a 02 sensor upstream of the cat(s) but I cannot say 100% that such happens all the way back to 96. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Start with the difference in numbers between short and long term fuel trims when it up to operating temperature.

I believe the CA emissions major changes happened in '99 (and then Federal matched it in '01). Check for 1 vs. 2 cats. If 1 cat = regular O2 sensors. If 2 cats = main AF sensor / rear O2 sensor.

I am fixing a fuel leak that I had at the banjo bolt so I didn't get to log anything today.
I will try again tomorrow.

They were only a few months old. Purchased from Advance Auto Parts. When I did the valve covers and I changed them again. Purchased from same company different store.

I got mine from ebay and they seemed to be counterfeit. I threw the old plugs back in and no problem.

It seems like you have tried almost everything at this point.

I have given it a pretty good run at it so far. I have tried and checked pretty much the normal stuff. Im close to giving up.
 
I have to get time to test fuel pressure under load.

What is puzzling is I cracked the banjo bolt to fix my contraption of a fuel pressure shrader valve and I didn't have any pressure at the rail after sitting overnight.

I had anticipated fuel spray. I got a dribble.

So does that mean the FPR is bad???

Is there a check valve of any kind in the pump or on the tank??

No, fuel pressure doesn’t stay high in these systems after an hour or so. Every time I have changed the fuel filter I just let the 4Runner sit overnight and then change the filter. Some Mercedes these days do keep pressure at a minimum amount, Audi may too. The modulator never turns off.

If you are concerned about the FPR, pull the vacuum tube and see if gas comes out or if you can even smell gas.

Hate for your to give up on this. But man you do have a frustrating issue with this one.
Did you confirm that the FPR inside bellows is not ripped inside and siphoning raw fuel through the vacuum hose?
Ever got a chance to read the STFT and LTFT?
There was another member on here that had that fast clicking iac that you got early on, flooded condition and a hard start or bad no start.
I'm not saying that this is what your going through but, it is a good read and to learn from.
