LFD Off Road 7/8 Rack Installed

Just a shout out to the crew over at LFD Off Road. I picked up a 7/8 roof rack from them and had it shipped out to California. I installed it on a 2017 TRD OR model. Fits like a glove.

SUPER nice quality and easy to install. Can easily be installed by one person. I have no in-progress pics, but attached some after-install pics. They followed up and shipped some light bar brackets...and then followed up AGAIN with an offer of some even better brackets! I have yet to install those. These guys are TOP-notch when it comes to customer service.

Very happy with this rack...now I gotta throw some stuff (gas cans, rooftop tent) up there and go beat it up.

It wasn't mentioned, but this rack uses the same crossbars that fit in your factory rails meaning that it's expandable. You can start now with the crossbars and upgrade to the rack

What he said I almost went the route of crossbars only, but wanted more storage area. Quality is excellent.

Love it! I just installed a few Crossbars in my factory rack the other day. Nice to know there is an option to still use them when I decide to go full rack.

It did come with a fairing. Pic attached. Also attached a pic of the original "version 1" brackets that are being replaced with improved ones. The new ones have not arrived yet. I attached a pic of the newer brackets (with a light bar installed - not mine) they are sending.

We designed the original brackets to mount the Apex Overland light bar in line with the rack out in front of the first crossbar and faring. We were using them this way to prevent taking up a crossbar on the rack and allowing for more usable space.

After a few installs, customers asked for the option to mount the light bar in a more traditional style above the wind faring on the first crossbar, hence the new brackets.

One other thing we've done on our full rack is incorporate the wind faring into a special crossbar so its not a separate bolt on piece. It seems to be working out well so far, so we'll probably roll that out into the other two rack sizes as well.

This looks great! I ordered two LFD crossbars to use with my stock rails. I will probably end up expanding to the 3/4 rack at some point. Right now, I just need something stronger to hold Maxtrax, a shovel, and a weatherproof rifle case I'll be using as my toolbox.

As for wind noise...not a whole lot. There is some, but it is fairly subdued on the street or highway.

For us it's crosswinds that make noise on our full prinsu. I wonder how much quieter the shorter rack is though. 80mph gets annoying so i cruise at like 65 or 70. wife doesn't GAF tho...she was doing 85 in some spots today on our way back from the mountains.

Yeah, I imagine gusts would generate more noise. I've done 75+ here and it was still relatively quiet. You know it is there, but it isn't dominating your ears.

There's no drilling needed on any of our racks! Even our new full is a no-drill.
