Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

I got my spacers squeezed in on top of my OME 885/ 895 setup. Toytec 1/2 spacer up front and a Daystar 1-1/2 rear. I like the way it sits now, Im still planning to put a 4 crawler 1-1/4 body lift on it and I could use some longer shocks. the OME nitro sports are great shocks but now they are limiting my rear flexiness. Any suggestions as to what length billstein 5125 I shoud run with about 3-1/2 inches of rear lift ?

looks good. If you are going to get an extended travel rear shock i would highly suggest getting the proper spring length. I have seem more than one set of springs fall out when people have used spring spacers and regular springs with extended (long) travel rear shocks. Yes your rear shock is limiting your travel, but right now it is keeping your springs safely in place.

I helped a guy in our group reinstall a rear spring on his FJ White Rim Trail due to this same situation. He lost them the following day on Fins & Things. He replaced with with the MT extended travel springs. They were a ***** to install since they were so long, but he never had any further issues with loose springs on the trail.

My springs are Old Man Emu 885 lift springs with a little 1-1/2 inch spacer. I don't want shocks that are so long the springs fall out, highly unlikely since I had to disconnect the LCA to get the spacer on top of the lift springs , just 2-3 inches longer than these OM shocks

New Addition

Got ourselves a 2nd 4Runner. 2008, all mods came with purchase. Previous owner went berserk with the aftermarket stuff. All the things we never did do with our 04. Could tell he really cared for it. We're excited.

Tell us a story... what are the lift specs on this bad-a$$ machine? It looks pretty darn tall, even with those 28" donuts at all four corners. J/K!! :p

Well you know best.

We popped his OME 895's in twice while he used Icon extended travel shocks.

I am not sure how you are running 885's in the rear.

I hope your results are different than his.

Although the a/t ko's we have on the other runner would look better, my husband has put his foot down that doing a tire swap wouldn't be fair since he keeps the 04. So I'm afraid the tires will have to wait but I agree fully. It's obvious the former owner took em.

Duh, I meant 895 rear. How long is an Icon shock ? Like I said I had to actually remove the LCAs to get the springs in with the spacer so in theory I could run no shocks and the springs still wouldn't fall out. Im not claiming to "know best". I appreciate your input and I wont be ordering anything until I do more research on shock/ coil length. Thanks

still have OEM coils on the 5100's? if yes look into ome 884, 885, or toytec's eibach 1.6" lift coil, couple with a changed perch setting on the 5100, or perhaps top plate spacers for a budget friendly lift

Ya oem coils up front still. This is how she looks still.

Would I need new upper contral arms if I did any of the above options? If I did it the budget way with the top plate spacer would it hamdle poorly? I just want to do it right without spending a lot. thx for feedback.

What if I ditched the oem coils and installed the fj coils. Would just doing that gain me an inch?

I've got the fj coils on 5100s with mine, and before it had settled it did net me more than an inch, but now its less than an inch of lift from the coils for sure. if you did a top plate spacer <1" of lift i doubt you'd notice any change in handling, but since you want another inch id say go with a lift coil, get it aligned, see how it handles, then decide if the investment in UCA's will be worthwhile
