before anybody says it yes i searched and didnt come up with a straight answer.

i am the new owner of a 99 4 runner limited with elocker and 110k on the clock ,

looking to buy a lift kit and narrowed it down to the toytec ultimate kit .
i want to run 285/75/ r16 tires .

which rear springs should i get ? [ thinking about 890 ]

do you think i will also need a 1'' body lift to clear the tires ? [want to do as less trimming as possible]

will i have to run wheel spacers if i use my stock rims ? [if so what size?]

thanks for any help , looking to order tomorrow so trying to get all the info i need .

IF you run wheel spacers you will most likely need a body lift to clear those tires. I would go wit the Light racing UCA's from here ---> http://4x4.fatbobsgarage.com/light-...ol-arms-toyota-tacoma-1995-12-2004-p7689.aspx - They are right at 400 shipped, which is at least 100 cheaper than anywhere else I have seen. This will allow your tires to clear the UCA's on stock wheels, will allow your alignment tech to get the caster/camber back to factory specs, and will allow you to use your full wheel travel more effectively.

Look at replacing your Lower Ball Joints, Inner/Outer Tie rods, Steering Rack bushings, and possibly the Steering Rack Guide when you do the lift as well. You will most likely have issues with the CV boots leaking grease after the lift. Might as well go ahead and throw some new axles in as well, or you can wait 2-3 weeks for them to start throwing grease. Almost every person on here has had to address the CV's within a short time of installing the lift kit. None of this is "required" to put on a lift kit, but it is highly recommended, after all, most of those parts are worn out with over 100k on them.

I would agree with Shadow's post. I have a Yota porn addiction problem and have been researching these same questions extensively. I would ask if you are down to do all the mods and work for the runner to accommodate that tire size (regardless of wheel spacers and body lift). Is the runner mostly a DD? I was originally planning my build for 285/75/r16's, but then found that I didn't want to put lower gears and everything else Shadow said. I think I've settled on 265/75/r16's. The truck can handle those much easier and won't change the stock settings as much.

shadow you said if i run wheel spacers i will need the body lift , can i run the tires without the wheel spacers ?
yes i plan on replacing most of the parts while i got it apart .

truck is not a dd more of a weekend wheeler and beach truck in the summer for the family . i really like the way the larger tires look with the lift . i see alot of guys commenting that 285's aren't that bad with the stock gearing

If you grab a toytec ultimate kit and run 285's, you don't need a body lift or wheel spacers. You can run 285's with that kit just fine. Either 890 or 891's will work just fine. I had 891's on a previous 4runner and they worked great.

Well, more specifics need to be given.

This is MY experience, with a 99 LIMITED and wheel spacers and stock wheels.
I have the Toytec lift and even with a 1" lift I have MINOR rubbing on the rear flap at full flex.

Here is a pic BEFORE the 1" body lift.

Most people like to say this will work or that will work and fail to realize how much of a difference having the limited flairs makes. IF you plan on using factory wheels, you will most likely need wheel spacers. IF you use wheel spacers, then plan on a 1" body lift and trimming of small amounts of front inner fender (see my build thread). It is not difficult and I do recommend both the toytec lift and the size tires you have chosen. Good luck!

Damn that's crazy I didn't realize how much of a difference those limited flares made! You're right though. I guess it differs a lot because I've had 2 other 4runners, one ('96 no flares) with a 3" revtek, and the other ('00 highlander edition flares) with OME and I've had more than enough clearance for 285's. Both on stock wheels too.

I THINK the biggest reason for this (in the front) is the wheel spacers. That really affects the spacing during turning, moving the wheel into the flares. As for the rear, I guess I am just lucky :) Tire brand could very well play a part in this, as well as spring choice. The point is, do your homework and don't assume anything when it comes to modding a vehicle.

you can run a 285 on a stock height vehicle... so it will fit with your lift. as stated tires sizes vary depending on manufacture. the good years seam to run big.

thanks for the help guys , full throttle your truck is the exact setup im looking for .
will be ordering lift tonight
