Lift for 2000 4R Limited?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the offroading game, and have a 2000 4Runner Limited that I mainly use as a camping/hunting/fishing/dog hauler rig that I have begun to dress up a little and want to put a low cost but functional lift on it. Looking to do 3" and fit 285's on it. Do you guys have any recommendations as to what I should look for? I dont want to do spacers in the front, I want to do coils and shocks. I'm just looking for something that is functional and will hold up in the long run and perform when I need it to...

This is where I got all of my info. I am doing the LC/TRD lift for about 350$. Waiting on parts to come in. Takes a lot of shopping to find the parts though.

2000 limited lift

I was in the same boat you are. I got a 2000 limited and I ended up going with the old man emu set up. I ordered the 90004 shocks and the 883's from toytec and the price came out very affordable. I also bought spidertrax wheel spacers, 1" body lift, and a few miscellaneous products for right at 800$ shipped. I didn't buy the rear shocks because I am going to run Monroe's from a 96 land cruiser. You can get a pair at the autopart store for about 60$. Hope this helps!

To your question, I would just recommend Old Man Emu (Front and Rear). Its pretty cheap and very good quality. (OME 881 springs up front and 890 in the rear).

Yes, lift questions are common. And yes, there is already a lot of info posted about them. Why, because the majority of members lift their trucks. If people stopped posting questions you might as well just turn the forum into a searchable .pdf and stop new topics all together.

There most likely are other new member that have done lifts recently and there are a few new lift ideas I've seen recently that are not covered in the sticky. I just saw someone use parts from an FJ Cruiser to lift a 3rd Gen. That's not covered in the sticky. He's looking for input from people here, not criticism.

And with 129 posts, you're hardly an authority on anything at this point. The forum is here to help members, if you're not looking to help, don't bother posting at all.

On a serious note, Toytec/Bilstein 5100's up front and LC (80 series front springs) coupled with stock LC rear shocks are working great for me! Just be prepared for some seriously awesome rake after the install.

PBrescuer, of course I was joking when I posted those links. Trying to lift the rear of a 4runner with a 29" dildo is a terrible idea. Everybody knows our trucks need at least 35" for max off road capability!

I don't think it's unfair to bring some friendly ribbing to a thread that asks a question thoroughly answered numerous times. Cheers.

Id like to spend around 500-600 if possible. Seems like the OME kits run around there. And as far as the dildo jokes, yeah humor is a little hard to translate through typing, but its all good.

GSPRunner, The OME kits are decent but the ride quality isn't great. My advice would be to look around for some Tundra TRD front Springs and a set of OME 906's. Pair them with the regular Bilstein HD's. AJUSA.com sells the set of 4 for under $300 delivered to your door. You can probably get the Tundra springs used for around $100 and the OME 906's come up barely used often for also around $100/set. Throw on a 1" BL and you'll be pretty much golden with 285's.
