Lift Help with rub

ok so I need some suggestions/help. I have on my 3rd gen Toytecs Ultimate lift kit. I have the front coilovers just about maxed out which puts me around 3" of suspension lift in the front. In the rear I have 891s which gives me 3" of lift as well. In addition I have a toytec 1" body lift. Tires I have Nitto Trail Grapplers 285/75/r17, their dimensions are very close to 35's.

Now heres the dilema, I have an insane amount of rub, but only on my passenger side. The tire rubs on the back of the passenger side wheel well when i turn, but not the drivers side. Are the wheel wells made differently? Even trimming the passenger side pinch weld wont give me much less rub.

So I'm sort of stumped at what to do. Only thing I can think of is go another 1" higher on my BL and run a 2" BL. But my main concern with that is the gap in my front bumper. I have an arb and I don't know how much work that requires to raise that. Also, will I need to do any more other than the radiator drop and the steering shaft extension? Pending what website or thread I look at I get 1000 different answers. Will the brake lines and gas lines remain fine? How about the battery harness and shifter arm and so on.

ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS NEED HERE GUYS & GALS

Thanks

First we need to clarify a few things. First your 285's are not 35's they are almost 34's and it would be appropriate to call them such. Second no amount of suspension lift provides clearance for tires unless you move the bump stops down to limit up travel.

So based on what you have provided here I am going to assume you basically have 1" of lift from the BL and nothing else to provide clearance. Is it rubbing at ride height? Have you gotten an alignment yet? If so what are the numbers? I am assuming you haven't based on fact you have a bigger issue on one side then the other.

It is commonly accepted to run 35's you must tub the firewall or do a whole heck of lot of beating on it with a BFH. I honestly don't think you can get 33's to clear without completely flattening the pinch weld or a body lift.

If you have not done anything to create clearance other than the lift I don't know how you expected it would work. Now you can add more BL and probably get it to work but your truck is going to be retarded high. I can't provide any info on how much trouble that is going to since I don't have any BL on my truck.

Tire size wise you aren't much taller than what I am running as a 33". But you are about 1 3/4" wider which is causes more rubbing problems than height does on the front wheels. Look here:

If it were me I would lower your coils to a reasonable level get an alignment and then start taking care of that pinch weld and firewall. If you would like you can check my build thread for how mine looked after I got done. When I was done the tires would not rub in the front on without any lift.

Good luck.

However, I have a question that he didn't ask.

You did that it's only rubbing on the passenger side. Has the vehicle ever been in a wreck? Have you been wheeling and hit a hole hard on the passenger side?

Follow ARCs recommendations, and if that doesn't help, get your frame looked at. Not trying to freak you out, but it could be a little warped on the passenger side from something.

First, thanks for the advice, and taking the time to help. The specs for nittos trail grapplers 285/75 are actually 34.1" in diameter, and 11.6" wide. I have every intent to get rid of the pinch weld completely as you had mentioned, which is where my tire is rubbing. Does the pinch weld need to be bashed in with a bfh or can I grind it off? I was not sure if grinding it off would go beyond the depth of the actual weld and separate the two pieces. And I have already had an alignment done after everything was on, and by everything I mean total chaos ucas, the suspension lift, the tires, and the bl.

I was afraid what you just mentioned might be the issue, but I wanted to see if there was anyone else with that problem first. About two years ago I got hit by a drunk driver right in the passenger side wheel. With that being said, I think you are right and I think my frame is bent a bit. :(

Sounds like your frame isn't square. But if it drives fine who cares. I used a grinder on mine for a ways until I thought I might be getting close to the actual joint and then I used a hammer to slowly fold it over. Once folded flat I hammered a little harder pushing it and the firewall back in trouble areas.
