I currently have Bilstein 5100s all around on stock springs. Corned spacer in rear and front shock on highest position (2.75?). I am running 285/70r17 and had gotten rid of the rubbing with fender liner tuck. I swapped my grill guard for a Warn Hidden winch and x20 synthetic. I am getting rubbing when turning in reverse. Will any type of upgraded springs provide a bit extra lift or am I limited out? I don't off road much now but to plan to in the near future. I appreciate any tips or suggestions. Thank you.

A new spring or a little more lift may help with rubbing on road, but as soon as you stuff the tire a little with IFS, you'll be back to rubbing again....Not the solution.

If you plan on going off road, and plan on staying with the 285's, and don't want to rub............fix the problem with either with a BMC, some plastic trimming, mudflap modification/removal ect, or all of the above, depending on where you are rubbing.
Also wheels spacers/negative offset wheels will make the rubbing worse....if you've done anything there.
 
I have the same set-up......you need a BMC for sure and no spacers. I still have mudflaps that work but they are carved out in the wheelwell and I have spacers from my 275's but I am going to pull them as the 285's don't need them.

Do you have oem or upgraded springs or UCA?

This is right on- find the rub first and clear the area. Personally, I would consider a heavier spring down the road.
 
I'm currently running the bilstein 5100's at 2.5" upfront with 1.5" spacer in rear (OEM springs) I am considering switching to the Old Man Emu 884's and setting the bilsteins back to the 0" position which from what I've read will yield around 2.5" of lift. (Can someone confirm this lift amount??) If you're looking to go up to 3" I'm pretty sure the 885's will get you there or you could set the billies at .85" (first perch) and put the 884's on.

The lift quotes for 884 & 885 sound correct at 0 position. That is with zero weight, with front weight plan on some sag. Don’t neglect replacing those shock circlips for safety.
 
Just curious why do you recommend changing the circlips/what are they for? I'm kind of a noob to the lift game haha.

Those are the clips you insert on the shock body that the front coil seats against to get .85”-2.5” of lift. Once used, manufacturer suggests you replace instead of re-use of the originals into a new location. There are stories out there of failed clips. Spend a few bucks for cheap insurance while you are replacing springs and resetting your new lift.
 
Out of curiosity. Did you do the 5100's yourself? I did them on my ram and transfering the spring to the new strut was a damn scary experience. Obviously these springs should be lighter but how easy are they to compress with the usual manual rental comressor from autozone?
