Is there some PM'ing here that I'm not privy too? If you guys are getting together to do a lift install you should come up here. Bring a tranny jack. I could always use a hand putting the dual in. I would come to you guys but I'll be without driveshafts for a week or so and it's a long walk home. lol

can't get a pony of DFH but can of any SoCal brewery, Stone, Ballast, Golden Road.... Heck, Golden Road is just down the street from me. And of course a few wine coolers.

If you can get a pony keg of Dogfish Head 120, then I’ll be up there as soon as you need me...
I wonder how much a pony keg would even cost if they were available out here. Just a 12oz bottle out here costs like $14 or something crazy!! No way I could spend that kind of money on one beer!
I’ve only had the 120 once, but I had a buddy that is an extremely experienced brewer, brew a batch that tasted just like the 120. He only let me have a few glasses of it, but that was all I needed. So good!

I grew up where DFH was plentiful. I actually prefer the 90 minute to the 120 minute. You can drink a few 90 minutes and still function. If you drink a few 120 minutes there's not much you'll get done. lol
My all time favorite IPA is Piny The Elder. I first had it when I got to Cali in 2004. A buddy is a bartender in San Fran and a huge IPA snob. He's had years of taste testing to be able to make some comparisons. I got a some DHF 90 and he got some Piny for a climbing trip we did. First night around the fire I tried one of his Piny. It was better then the DFH.
I'm tearing into the stock case tomorrow to get the twin stick mod done. My wife leaves Saturday for 10 days. That gives me two full weekends to get this thing bench tested then stuffed into it's new home. I'm still up in the air on who's doing the driveshafts. I've talked to Jesse at High Angle and to Tom Woods. Anyone more local that you would recommend?

Tom at Drive Line & Gear Service in Reno turned around a drive shaft for me in about an hour with no appointment, $90 out the door I couldn't have been happier
All other drive shaft work I've had done has been in Van Nuys at Wenco Driveshaft
If you can get your hands on a bottle of Labyrinth by Unita, I highly recommend it

Can't say I've ever had Pliny the Elder. Maybe I need to pick a case up.
Also can't really recommend anyone for a driveshaft since I've never had one made. So no personal experience over here. I have heard of people using all kinds of shops though. To name a few that come to my head
- High Angle Driveline (Northern CA somewhere)
- Tom Woods (Utah somewhere?)
- JE Reel (Pamona)
- Hi Desert Driveline (Hesperia)
I've heard good things about all those. I know Jesse at High Angle Driveline has a great rep on Pirate 4x4. Those guys are pretty brutal; both on their rigs and on the forum.
You are just doing custom lengths to your stock shaft right? The OEM Toyota parts are quite a bit better than most parts on the market.

If I go with High Angle I have to supply the shafts and Jesse does the rest using Toyota parts. If I use Jesse I can get the shafts drop shipped to him. That means sourcing them through a yard sight unseen. I could get lucky or not. His turn-around is currently 1-2 weeks.
If I go with Tom Woods they supply everything. They don't use Toyota parts. They use Spicer 1310's. The advantage there is that part is readily available anywhere should a repair be needed. The disadvantage is it's not quite as strong as a Toyo. There turn-around is 1 day.

It's stronger than Toyo & you can pick any size u-joint you want. I went with 1310's because they're already bigger than Yota but 1330 & 1350's are only $25.
Also their "Gold Seal" u-joints are guaranteed for life. Yota? 1 year.

That’s a tough decision then. I know Tom Woods is reputable, and the turn around times are way better, but 1310’s are definitely not an upgrade from OEM Toyota parts. Maybe if they were 1350’s I could see the benefits. Especially for ease of replacement parts and trail fixes.
Talk to Jesse and ask his opinions on 1310 vs Toyota, he will tell you that OEM toyota is much better quality and more strength than 1310. I’ve seen my brother replace so many U-Joints on his XJ (Tom Woods with 1310 joints) and he drives his maybe 500 miles a year at most. 1310 is junk. See what JE Reel or Hi Desert Driveline can offer you. Sounds like Tom Woods has everything going for it besides 1310 joints.
Just search Toyota vs 1310 on google and you’ll find stuff in Pirate 4x4 and hear it from Jesse himself.
You are keeping the double cardan joint right?

What it really boils down to is how much torque I'll be applying. With double low it's gonna be quite a bit. The question is how much longer will the Toyo last compared to the 1310 or 1350? Nobody has that answer and I've looked. Experience on the trial is the only real evidence we have. Let's face it though, there are WAY more 13xx on trail then there are Toyo. I'm gonna end up tossing a coin. lol

Just because something has a lifetime warranty doesn't mean it's stronger. My goal here is to not break in the first place. I've got a lot of respect for Tom Woods and what they do. I also have a lot of respect for Toyo's not failing often. Like I said, coin toss.

If Tom Woods can do a shaft with 1350’s, then I’d say it’s a good option considering everything else such as time, replacement parts, and trail fixes. I’d still give the other places a call to see what they can offer. If they can offer something with quick lead times and Toyota parts, then that might be the ticket. I’d just stay away from 1310’s. They are weak, and can’t handle higher angles like Toyota’s can. Stick with 1350’s at minimum. Buy once, cry once.

I think it depends on who makes the 1310. Spicer? TW Gold Seal?, generic auto parts store? I wouldn't call them all junk. I agree bigger is better, that's why I brought it up. My Gold Seal 1310's have been perfect & always greased but I dont wheel as hard as you two. The larger you go the harder its going to be to find a replacement at an auto parts store when you're far from home. You could always bring an extra with you.
