Lift is on

Toytec 3" springs in front with Tundra 5100s on second notch. OME 890 springs in rear with Rough Country N2.0 shocks. Rough Country shocks were already on it so I decided to give them a try. I ended up with 4" in the front and 4 1/2" in the back. The amount of lift looks pretty high because I had 200,000 on my factory springs 2wd springs. Before numbers were 19 1/2 front 19 back. Now I'm at 23 1/2 front and 23 3/4 back. The ride is great. It is not harsh at all. Remember that I'm comparing this to completely worn out 200,000 mile springs and shocks that were on it. The back feels a little softer than the front so I will probably put Tundra 5100s on the back pretty soon. I also installed Spidertrax 1.25" spacers to set the wheels out a little.

My previous 4Runner had 99 Talls with Tacoma 5100s set on the second notch and I didn't like the ride. It was way to soft. The Tundra 5100s are the way to go.

Might want to think about a diff drop kit from Toytech. Your CV's will thank you.

I would but I can't find my diff.

Just kidding. It's a 2wd. I really wish I had gotten another 4wd. My 99 that I had was 4wd with the rear locker. I was looking for another one after mine got totaled and found this 2wd for a great price. I thought "I don't really need 4wd anyway" and bought it. I got stuck a week after I bought it.

Looks great, this is the same setup I'll be throwing on next week except billies all around. How are the 890s on the road? I'm between them or 891s

I will probably be placing an order for rear 5100s today. With the 5100s on the front and the Rough Countrys on the back when I hit a dip the front doesn't move much, but the rear does because the RCs have less dampening. The 890s are great. I was afraid they would be stiff, but they aren't at all.

I swapped out the Rough Country N2.0 shocks that I had on the back for some Tundra 5100s. The ride is much better. The dampening matches the front now. Before the swap when I hit a high speed dip on the interstate the front didn't move much but the rear squatted. Now it feels like both ends are sharing the load of the bump, if that makes sense. I had to swap out the bushings in the shock which turned out to be easy. I bought the bigger bushing from Summit Racing for like $10. Took me just a couple of minutes to press out the small steel bushing that came in the Tundra 5100 using a 1" socket, a 3/8 x 3 carriage bolt and some washers.

Bama_Runner:

Your sig says you have "trim packers" - is that for the rear, and how thick are they? Just wondering how much that affected your rear lift height.

Nice looking rig, btw.

If you're looking for honest opinions here, I think the tyres are little too small for that size lift.

A 33" would fill that nicely!

Otherwise, looks great!

I am running 2 10mm trim packers on each side in the rear. This gave me about 3/4" extra lift in the rear. I did this because after it settled I was sitting just about level without any weight in the rear and I wanted a little bit of rake.

I totally agree and I plan on going to 285 75s as soon as I wear these out. My 265s were brand new so I couldn't justify spending the money on new tires right now.

Do most people preload the 3" springs? I thought they generally get installed on position 1 of the Billies?

I'd love to compare the ride between the TRD's and the 3" Eibachs.

Have people with 4x4's been running into driveline issues with the 3" springs?

Sorry for the poorly researched questions. I typically don't do that but just rambling off the top of my head at the moment.

I am running my Toytec 3" springs on the first notch up front. This is what Toytec recommends but many individuals run on higher notches. Since I'm running 3 inches higher in the rear with my 891's, the fronts on the first perch match just fine. Additionally, I would recommend a diff drop kit. I don't understand spending the money to lift a truck/4runner/whatever without splurging on a $15-$30 set of spacers for the front diff.
