Lift Mod Plan Review Please?

2006 4R SR5 AWD V8.

This is my first thread here. Hope it is in the right place, sorry if it isn't.

Could I get some input on if this will work? I have been through a bunch of the posts, so I believe it will, but I'd like to get someone else's judgement that has more experience than I do. I'd hate to find out after I did all the work that it wasn't going to ever fit. I originally replied in another thread taht I was going to do the Daystar 3/2, but after more research here it seems many people say to skip that and do some Bilstein 5100s all the way around.

So...

Bilstein 5100 adjustable front and back.
2" spacer in rear.
Toyo Open Country AT II, 275/65R18
Moto Metal 969, 0 offset.

I hope to have the tires come out to edge of fender or past a little.

I like the look of Duratracs or Toyo Open Country RTs, but don't want to here much tire noise, so I went with the AT.

I also am getting the dash lights changed.

I will definitely post pics once it is done.

Again PLEASE advise if this will fit. I don't mind cutting fender liner, but want to stay away from cutting the fender.

THANKS!

I believe it will work but I would upgrade the springs. Fj springs are reasonable priced or some ome(which is what I'm running). Then you can take the spacer out of the mix. Doesn't have any input on tire offset and fitment. Over my head for now.

That will work, assuming you're planning on cranking the front 5100s all the way up. You'll probably need to remove the front mud flaps and push the fender liners forward + cut off a little bit on the bottom of the fenders (you never see that part anyway), but I don't think you'll need to do more trimming than that. I have 275/65R18 Duratracs and 1.25" wheel spacers and that's all the trimming I had to do (with a 3" lift in front).

Also, don't forget to get an alignment after the lift is installed. Are you planning on running aftermarket upper control arms in the future, or keep it stock? The stock ones will leave your caster a bit low.

if youre doing stock springs or even FJ's, with the 5100s all the way up, you should be able to get it aligned to an acceptable standard. Ive had 5100s, FJ springs, and top plate spacers for 20k now without aftermarket caster correcting upper control arms, and it drives the same as it did before. if you can find someone who can give you a good alignment thats key.

Thank you (and the others) for the information. I don't know if it is my head or not but I was looking at my 4R today after I posted and it seems like it sits lower in the front than it should, I assume from the original springs with 150,000 miles on them. If I get the FJ springs will it make the ride rougher? I would really like to keep a smooth ride.

Thanks again to all input!!!

it doesnt ride rougher, it rides firmer after the fj springs. i have never found my ride to be rough, its firmer than before, but it is more responsive and doesnt "wallow" in my opinion. i found stock suspension to be too 80's cadillac sedan, i like the firmness

-24 Offset?

I am finally ready to pull the trigger on my build. Pictures will be abundant once I get it all done.

But before I order them tonight, I want some of you smart guys to answer a question or two on the stance.

I like a really wide stance. I want the tires to stick out an inch or so. But the wheels I want don't have exactly what I want in terms off offset and size.

They are the Moto Metal 969, 18"

I can get an 18x9, 0 offset, which I think might only make it about even with the fenders, or I can get the 18x10 -24 offset, but I am afraid they might not fit without rubbing.

I will be happy to get adjustable UCAs if that is what it will take, but can the bigger 18x10 with -24 offset work, or will it rub the frame and stick out wayyyy too much?

PLEASE HELP...I have been researching all over this site and online, but I cannot find the exact answer and I do not want to buy the bigger ones and they not fit and then have to pay to ship them back.

I have a 2003 Tundra and the tires stick out about 1 1/2" inches and I really like that stance and so that is the look I am going for.

I am getting it painted a new color and having leather put in, plus the 3" lift and tires. Again, can someone please help steer me in the right direction?

I do understand how offset works and have looked at the online calculators, but can't find anything with these specific numbers.

Thanks in advance!

Dan

didn't know the back 5100s were adjustable.. its only the fronts i believe.... 5100s check.. solid choice..

can't you just use the stock front springs, and then OME or equivalent lifted spring for the rear... instead of FJ springs with a spacer?

get 1.5 wheel spacers from all pro all around with the elongated stud bolts for peace of mind..

my two cents..
