Lift or just level?

He was not asking about TIRES was he? You made that recommendation, I disagreed from my personal experience in buying tires twice. I never said "do everything at once", I recommended a lift. You sure do get bent out of shape when someone disagrees with you, don't you? :rockthrow:

Not at all, when the person disagreeing with me offers something more than "I disagree." I quoted his original post. He said something to get rid of mushy feel. I recommended tires first. When you posted "I disagree" and did not qualify your statement except to say I bought tires twice (paraphrase) I assumed you disagreed with the entire premise of modding one step at a time. You also commented on getting "that same advice" and finding out it was not right for you. Since it is only tires you are talking about then why did you have to buy them twice?

Not at all. That is why I did not quote your post. I was disagreeing only with tires first, which was clear to me, perhaps I should have clarified. I had to buy them twice because after the lift I wanted 285s. Had I lifted first, I would have put 285s on the first time. Luckily, I have a great tire guy that made it an inexpensive mistake on my part.

My mild lift.

I like you wanted to get rid of the mushy ride and the nose dive an add a little lift. I kept the stock tires but put them on Pro comp 17x8" wheels which gave my SR5 a nice stance. I will get better tires when these wear out (no need to spend extra money). I put Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks on the front set at 1.75" and put Bilstein shocks on the rear that work for up to 2" lift with a Daystar 1.5" spacer that I machined down to 1.125" high. I couldn't be happier, the better ride is firm yet nice, I also have considerable less nose dive and looks better to me at this height than stock. Last but not least it is not too expensive and it is just the right height for myself and family.This mod made me fall in love with my SR5 whereas before this I was not sold on this truck.
I have had this setup for over a year with absolutely no problems and didn't have to make any changes to UCA'S or any thing like that!

I have the stock Bridgestone tires and I must say, despite all the criticism about these tires on this Forum and others, they absolutely suck.

Thanks for the sound advice from everyone. I am going to pull the trigger and make a move in the right direction. All in all, my take away is no matter what the circumstances, in stages seems to be great advice.
Shoot, where would I be without all this expereince? Thanks to all - Choose your "poison", its on me. :cheers:
